Chrono Trigger Pokemon Red/Blue/Green/Yellow Seiken Densetsu III (secret of Mana) Tales of Phantasia Final Fantasy IV, VI, VII and XII Elder Scrolls: Morrowind Fallout 3 Golden Sun 1 and 2 were good. I never quite understood the hype about Earthbound. I really want to try out Lunar 2 and Xenogears next.
lol, I don't think Diablo is an RPG, but then I suppose Fallout 3 isn't either, according to the same reasoning. Did anybody ever play the Dragonball RPG for SNES? Awesome game.
okami looks like fun. something that creates beauty or restores it instead of going around destroying everything.
In my opinion, Fallout 3 (game of the year edition) has been the best RPG i've played in quite awhile.
i really really REALLY like THAT idea too! (as long as they haven't built up a large static electrical charge. ouch.) god mode-ing in live would work ok too as long as everyone agreed not to kill everything in sight. (and actually KEPT to not doing so!)
Pokemon games were great for what they were. But you can't ask what the best RPG game is and exclude FF, that's just stupid. So yeah, I would say FF 7 OR 6, not because its obvious, but because it's right.
Just depends on what you are trying to get out of the game. Personally, I think stuff like Dragon Quest and Shin Megami Tensei surpass the Final Fantasy franchise (with the exception of 6 and 7), particularly more recent entries in the Final Fantasy series, which seem to be based more in style rather than substance.
Dragon Quest was still Enix though, so not so different from FF Dragon Crystal was a really neat RPG for the Game gear, totally worth getting an emulator for.
Dragon Quest is very different from Final Fantasy, especially in their respective modern incarnations. Square and Enix merged back in '03, and if anything, the differences between the two franchises have done nothing but grown.
