leftover ideals about purity

To me, the word purity has nothing to do with sex. My mom thinks she was "slutty" as a teenager because she had 3 boyfriends during high school and had a sexual encounter with 2 of them...yikes, if my mom knew of some of my sex-positive attitude, my friendliness towards polyamory, the fact that I work part time in the adult industry online (someone would really have to do some deep, deep digging and very specific searches to find my alter-ego's web-presence [obviously I use a fake name and the fetish niche I serve is very specific], and the extra money I make from it is pretty decent so I'm not gonna quit), the fact that I use sex toys (she was highly offended by a coworker doing a Pure Romance party, saying that she's a married woman and doesn't need implements...oh how sheltered), the fact that I occasionally have NSA (no strings attached) sexual play with someone (I ALWAYS practice safe sex and I get to know any sex partner before having sex with them - usually they are a friend I've known for awhile, too, and trust), anything that isn't vanilla sex with a monogamous partner is bad, bad, bad. The fact that she thinks she was a slut in high school for sleeping with 3 guys (and from what she said, once per guy) that she DATED over a period of 4 years....omg I'm such a ho-bag by comparison even though it's been months since I got laid now. She has opened her eyes about some things over the years, stopped being religious (she is agnostic now), but she has some really old-school morality left over about some stuff, and sex is a big one. I know it's mostly generational. I don't see anything inherently wrong about a single woman who enjoys sex, so long as she is careful to protect her own safety and the safety of any play partner. But my mom sees that as someone who lacks virtue and is slutty. Well excuse me, but I haven't been able to find a decent "steady" partner for 4 years and I don't necessarily think I should have to be celebate because of it.
