Ugh..I hated Brave New World. The concept was interesting, but it bored me to tears and I only made it half way through. That was 7 years ago..perhaps I'll give it another go after I finish my current stack of books to be read. One of his lesser known books, Island, is a complete gem!

By far one of my favorite books. I agree, Aldous Huxley is a genious. Another great book by him is After Many A Summer Dies the Swan. It's about a very wealthy, somewhat insane, mans quest for immortality. Mostly it brings up the question of what it means to be "human."

Definitely read Island after you read Brave New World. Island provides a positive world in which current technologies are present, with a buddhist philosophy on how a society should run. It's a great book and describes a wonderful society which can work.

Great book. One of the best. Do not get discouraged. Read the whole book wether you understand everything or not. The message is in the book as a whole. Ingest it.

Check out "1984" by George Orwell and "Anthem" by Ayn Rand as well....I consider them in the same category.

And as Alvabd said "The Island" by Huxley is another good one. A great contrast to "A Brave New World."

Never stop reading...and if that is not available, write.

I was supposed to read this in high school. I don't really read. It was weird tho it was ok.

I read that. I found it to be interesting, yet mind numbingly boring.
    Prefer 1984.

"But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.”

One of my favorite quotes. Indeed a great novel.

I read Brave New World last year. It was really hard to get through for me, particularly the first few chapters, but well worth it. My only complaint is that the names were rather blatantly symbolic. Still, it was one of the better books I've ever read.

I'm reading 1984 right now, and I am absolutely in love with that book. I can barely put it down!

Brave New World is on my list of books to read.
I've read 1984 and liked it, but it was rather boring.. I hope Brave New World is less boring!

brave new world is tight. Another awesome auther is Kurt Vonnegut. I just read breakfast of Champions which is kick ass, and slaughter house 5 has been a favorite of mine for years.
