I'm scared now...

I usually smoke 3 times a week, maybe more. The only place I can do it (besides my house if my parents aren't home) is with my friend in her car. Lately I have been looking up the laws about being high in public and such, and it has discouraged me from smoking now. I am wanted to go smoke with her tomorrow, but I am always so paranoid of getting caught. How can I stop freaking out so much?
Also I live in Ohio so if anyone could share any info about the laws regarding marijuana or any stories that would be great.

when i was 16 i got my first paraphernalia charge, didnt really get in any trouble


in ohio, marijuana is decriminalized, so if you have under a oz i believe you only get a ticket. Im pretty sure thats what it is dont take my word for it ( go to the norml site that orison posted )

 

if you act like your doing nothing wrong then no one will suspect you are. if you walk around all sketched out then ppl are gonna be like whats up with them? its all about ur attitude.

 

the only problem with ohio, its all flat, lol.. so you cant hide behind the hills...

 

I have to agree with Spaceboy. Act casual, but keep an eye out. I have often walked down the street and sparked up and just was walking along.

 

yeah theres nothing wrong with being cautious when your doing something illegal but i dont personally feel like im doing anything wrong smoking pot therefore i dont act like i am.

 

i love walking down streets when im high! it feels magical...

 

just act normal.i dont suggest smoking in a car though.the interior of my truck wreaks of weed.and my interir is clean,have air freshener in all 4 dash vents,2 sticks in each one,and a bottle of spray freshener,and i smoke cigs.but all i can smell is the weed and so will a cop if i get pulled over for something.

Find somewhere where no one is around. I don't know how urban your area is, but there must be a place in the woods or something where no one will find you. I've got heaps of places where I've stashed bongs and stuff. Some are right near houses too. It's seriously fine if you're like 40 feet into the trees.

 

don't buy into the fear that permeates our society. cops rely on the fact that they try and scare people into confessing to doing something wrong. don't play their "gotcha" games. realize the reality of smoking weed and getting high - that's it's not a "wrong" thing.

yeah, you have to be intelligent about smoking in public (and especially in car), but don't let them scare you into believing that you're doing something wrong. in case you do have to interact with them, just play it cool and act normal. if you can't (we all get uber-baked now and then), try to say that you're late for an appointment and ask if it is OK for you to leave. you're not required to give any details whatsoever. ask whether or not you're being detained or arrested, then ask if it's OK to leave. if they say you need to stick around, ask them 'on what grounds?' and keep insisting that you need to leave.

eye contact is a good thing, even if you're all bloodshot. red eyes can be from a number of things. if you have red eyes and won't look 'em in the eyes, THEN they'll know something's up.

if you're going to be out and about smoking, keep in mind that certain places are KNOWN spots for people to smoke weed. if you know about a certain place, chances are other people do, too. and that includes cops!

if you choose to smoke in a car, make sure the driver is able to follow all laws and that their vehicle is street-legal. have nothing hanging from the rear-view mirror, make sure all lights work, and never speed. dont give them a reason to pull you over. crack the windows open and blow the smoke out ASAP. never hot-box. you don't want to hang onto that weed smell.

overall, just be smart about it and think ahead.

 

there is no reason to be paranoid because there is no way to prove that you are high, unless you have stuff on you.
