Hi My name is Liz I live in WI, i am part of the protesting group . I am new to this Site, and just wanted to share a little bit about how you can help and take a stand. We have sent out many people undercover, to seek the truth about these puppy stores, and where they get there puppy's. 90% of the stores do in fact go through puppy mills. and as for Petlands the humane society of American made a national announcement that they in fact use puppy mills. If you think this is inhumane and you want to take a stand, Protest at a Petland near you, we have actually had employees at these stores walk out, quit, and also give more information on where the puppy mill is they use. There is even a Petland that is shutting down due to business failing, because the national petstore protest brought in hundreds of people, and people saw how serious and horrible it is to buy a puppy from a pet store. DONT SHOP ADOPT Here are some video's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0KucYppXO0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3Wp0I1-Hbk sorry my grammar is horrible, its just not my best subject took it 3x in college and high school lol.. im better at science
I thought you should know that proper grammar is not really as important as what is in our hearts. In my humble opinion you are a good person and a kind soul and that is so very rare these days on earth. This is a good thread you have started and thank you for posting it out here where all can see, understand, and hopefully, do something about...
first off, don't worry about the grammar. the message is much more important. living here in warminster, i have never heard of a petland. around here, it is petsmart and petco that are the usual pet stores. if there is anything that raises a flag about these places, please let me know.
Thank you both very much, that meant a lot. Taxrefund Petsmart and Petco's are okay, they actually Help with foster animals. Its Puppy stores in your area that you can check out, even if you dont know for a fact that they use puppy mills, they are still selling puppy's when there are millions of dogs out there in humane soicietys, waiting to be adopted. Stores that sell puppy's are just wrong period, there are also Dog auctions.. 100% of the puppy that are in Puppy/Dog auctions are from puppy mills. Its a never ending cycle that needs to be stopped, or dogs are going to keep dieing everyday, because people want cute little speical puppys. Also most of the time the dogs are inbreed and end up getting sick, therefore your spending $1000 of dollors for a puppy thats sick, when u can go to the humane soiciety and get a heathly dog. taxrefund, im sure there are puppy auctions in your town. Look for them or puppy stores. If u dont want to protest, there is websites where you can download information on puppymills with pictures. print them out and put them in the store or outside the stores. thats how i started, till i met my grouo. Thank you both so much for reading, i hope many others will see this and help. thanks again liz
Thank you for posting this for people who are unaware! We protest this in my area and a group even got a billboard put up on our highway to address this issue. I live in one of the most notorious places for puppy mills and it's sad to drive by some of these buildings and wonder if they're one of the mills
I lived in Pennsylvania for awhile working as a nanny and then I learned that the area I lived in was home to a lot of puppy mills. It made me fuming mad to see that.. I was sobbing and I was just so upset. But then I thought.. well, what would I have done if I was there? Would I have turned into Wonder Woman and saved them all? HOW can I make a difference? I'm glad you made this post because this is something I feel so strongly about!! Thanks so much for sharing the info!
Yes protesting is all we can do, make people aware of the problem.. Most puppy mill/ farm owners have shotguns, and if you try to go near the puppy mills, you get slammed with tickets.. Which is disgusting, the best thing is for everyone that knows for sure that there are puppy mills in the area, is to write letters to the mayor. Write to them everyday if you have to, make them understand how horrible it is to let this happen in your area of living. We wrote do our mayor and governor, even if you don't think they care, try try try. Information and educating is the KEY.. Im really happy to see many of you care, and do want to help. Like i said before. Start with puppy stores, put up flyers of puppy mill information around the stores, with dont shop adopt right flyers next to them. Then write to your mayors and governors, educating them on puppy mills. Get groups together, or Google puppy mill protest for your area. every bit helps.
we saved all of our dogs from puppy mills. bella (golden retriever/chowchow) came from a puppy mill right in philly. they were going to use her as a breeding dog but she was epileptic and they were just going to kill her we got todd from pets plus. DO NOT EVER ADVERTISE OR GIVE GOOD CREDIT TO PETS PLUS!! the majority of their puppys come from puppy mills!! todd is a newfoundland and has SERIOUS hip dysplasia. we got another dog from there.. dolly.. she was so unfortunate and my parents tried really hard to work with her and she ended up needing to be put down. i bought our yorkie, josh (i gave him to my grandmother), from a puppy mill in plumbsteadville i think it was without knowing it was a puppy mill.. we called them about a week after we got josh to let them know that he had kennel cough and ear mites and that all their other puppies could have it too and their reply was 'so'? so my mom called to report them.. it turns out that they had been closed twice in the past for cruelty to animals and for running a puppy mill.
hey liz, youre in wisconsin, so is this bitch http://www.dirtypawsteddybears.com/ an ex of mine worked there. she took me into work once and after seeing the living conditions of all the dogs i made it my goal to bring the fat lady (the owner) down. i only went into one garage, the one connected to the house, but there was another big building further on the property that had so many crying puppies... it was so disgusting. maybe you can do something about it. i can't right now.
Thanks for posting this. I work with rescue dogs and we sometimes have puppy mills dogs come into care one little toy Poodle male was taken on by one of our carers and he was being kept in a cage that he could barely turn around in for his entirely life aside for when he was being used for breeding. When he came to us he would only turn in circles it was heartbreaking Luckily after a few weeks in foster care he came around and is now a happy healthy dog. Puppy Mills are atrocious and so are the governments that allow them to exist!
I learned quite a bit about this when I did my huge final project on animal cruelty...definately very disturbing!
