I've read a lot of the guides on Eowid but I'm still not sure how to go about it. I live in the santa cruz mountains (Prolly have some cubensis growing under my house!) and would love to go hunting in the morning. any tips on specific places to look.
I know, I know, newbie. Prolly a cop. "6 up, every body. hit the cuts!" :beatdeadhorse5:Seriously. just some tips on where to look would be awesome.
    Thanks!

There's a sticky at the top of this forum with tips on mushroom hunting. I'm not sure if it tells you where to look since I never read the sticky. You might want to check out shroomery.com since they specialize in this.

Definitely check out Shroomery, Shroomotopia or Mycotopia for info on this. For the most part, HF is NOT a good place to ask questions that may effect your health.

^ true that when it comes to shrooms.

Look for Pann Subbs. they are supposed to be common in California, and I have found them in a few locations all the way here in Ohio.

But in northern CA there are Azures and Cyans. Even in the bay area you have Ps. Cyanofriscosa.

mushroom hunting is the bees knees whether searching for edibles or actives, just pick all the mushies you see so you can research them later its a great hobby to pick up. Please try to not disturb the mycelium when picking tho or you can ruin the patch.

Cyans in particular seem to be a predominantly cosmopolitan species. I have never found them in collection forays into undisturbed native areas. Perhaps the are present in my area as transplants from an indigenous home range that is geographically elsewhere?
