A Personal Message From Ron Paul "Every libertarian and free-market conservative.... needs to read this book" Dear Friend, It is a myth that big business is a friend of freedom. Exposing the ways big business has worked to undermine liberty and explaining how the anti-market policies enrich large corporate interests at the expense of average Americans is a vital task for the freedom movement. In Tim's Carney's book, Obamanomics: How Barack Obama Is Bankrupting You and Enriching His Wall Street Friends, Corporate Lobbyists, and Union Bosses, Tim looks past the Left's anti-business rhetoric to expose how big business benefited from the stimulus bill, and how the current administration is funneling taxpayer money to failed Wall Street firms. Perhaps the most useful section of the book is the chapters detailing how the insurance and pharmaceutical industries are lending their clout to the push for nationalized health care. Despite the sound bites from the pro-ObamaCare politicians and their cheerleaders in the media about the evil insurance companies, the insurers are actually on Obama's side in promoting a giant expansion of the government's role in health care. And why not? A major plank of the health care plan is to force every American to have health insurance—in other words, to make every American a customer of the insurance industry. Every libertarian and free-market conservative who still believes that large corporations are trusted allies in the battle for economic liberty needs to read Obamanomics, as does every well-meaning liberal who believes that expansions of the welfare-regulatory state are done to benefit the common people. Sincerely, Congressman Ron Paul The federal government now controls 30% of the U.S. economy, thanks to billion-dollar bailouts of insurance companies, banks, Wall Street firms, and the auto industry. How did the freest economy in the world come to this? In his shocking exposé, Obamanomics, investigative reporter Tim Carney reveals how Big Government partnered with Big Business and Big Labor to cover up failure—and squash small business. From conspiring with the healthcare industry to cutting sweetheart deals with corporate cronies and union boss buddies, the Obama administration is working hand-in-hand with Big Business to line Wall Street's pockets, gain more power, and crush tax payers. Featuring a foreword by Ron Paul, Obamanomics reveals: * How despite Obama's campaign promises of hope and change in Washington, his record shows he constantly favors lobbyists and special interests over entrepreneurs and taxpayers * The Great Health Care Scam—Obama's backroom deals with drug companies spell profits and more government control * The Global Warming Hoax—Obama has bought off industries with a pork-filled bill that will drain your wallet for Al Gore's agenda * How the GOP needs to drastically change its tune to battle Obamanomics Think Big Government and Big Business are rivals with opposite interests? After reading Obamanomics, you'll know that's just a Big Myth. And you will understand the threat posed by Obamanomics to all entrepreneurs, small businessmen, and American tax payers. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/159...SIN=1596986123 http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Oba...ankrupting+you http://www.borders.com/online/store/...sku=1596986123
Problem is that the right wing ideas of seemingly most US libertarians would just increase so called ‘corporatism’. Virtually all their ideas would in practice make the rich and powerful richer and more powerful. I mean you only have to look at the policies they’re proposing - Very few or no taxes - few or no regulations on banks or the wealthy - little or no state welfare, education or training systems, and the repeal of all controls on wages, prices, rents, profits, production, and the abolition of most employment laws. And of course the ‘free market’ con that would lead, if left unchecked, to plutocratic tyranny. Free market = plutocratic tyranny. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=353336&f=36
The above systems teach that we do not have to take responsibility for what happens in our lives cause the good ole gov will take care of us. A free thinker like myself does not stand a chance in the above system cause I can't be what the status quo demands. The above system cranks out drones and I am an individual. I do not believe corporatism is the same as free market capitalism because when big corporations take over and manipulate governments the little individual cannot survive this is slavery not freedom.
(my added italics) Yomama The problem is that you don’t seem able to defend this right wing form of libertarianism against the charge that it mainly serves the interests of the rich and that any such system - if it were adopted - would become dominated (if not completely controlled) by wealth. Instead we get the same old right wing slogans and rhetorical homilies - taking responsibility - free thinkers, not government educated drones - nasty big government - up with individualism - down with corporatism - choose freedom over slavery * The thing is you cannot choose to whom you are born and this has the greatest influence on what choices you may have, so how exactly do people take responsibility for that? The reason why wealth has virtually always opposed giving the same kinds of advantages and protections they have to the lower orders is because they know they’d use them to assail and weaken their position. So lets look at those slogans again and there meaning to established wealth based power - taking responsibility – not having a welfare system that prevents exploitation of the weak. free thinkers, not government educated drones – don’t want educated people that might ask some difficult questions much better to have ill informed ‘free thinkers’ nasty big government – democracy is a threat (and what is ‘small government’ none of its advocates seems able to tell me) up with individualism- it is easer to brush aside one individual it is a lot harder if people come together in some kind of union. down with corporatism – but the free market con game pushed by right wing libertarians would make ‘corporatism’ much more likely. choose freedom over slavery – but ‘freedom’ here seems to be the freedom to be exploited and that’s what slavery is exploitation.
The problem is that a right wing libertarian system is often sold as a meritocratical system, where a persons position is based in their ability and talent. The only problem is that for such a system to work within a money based economy (which gives advantage to wealth) everyone would have to start at a social, economic and educational equal position. Otherwise wealth under a libertarian system would have such a huge advantage that it would inevitably result in a plutocratic oligarchy. How can people whose advantages are hugely different be said to have equality of opportunity, they simply don’t. But the thing is that right wing libertarians don’t mention such a sharing of wealth before bringing in their system, in fact they scream against any move toward a more equal society, so basically it’s a con game, they’re just promoting the interests of wealth. That’s presumably why there are a number of wealth funded think tanks out there (like the Cato institute) helping to promote these deeply flawed ideas.
Bullshit! A nationalized health care system would free all of us from corporate slavery. We might pay slightly higher taxes but when we needed a doctor or medical treatment we would receive it. Businesses would have to pay reasonable wages, health care would no longer be a benefit they could no longer threaten us all with withdrawing at the negotiating table if any of us still have the ability to negotiate. We lost our ability to unionize/negotiate, we've seen worker's comp laws changed to benefit employers, we are told we should back tort reform...why so we can no longer seek redress, while the coporations are protected. How many of these reforms have ever lead to cheaper insurance rates. None that I can count. When do we wise up? You have it backwards, and the big business/corporations are playing you and laughing at you at the same time.
Does anyone anywhere believe this? National health care would be an equalizer. I would willingly pay taxes for a guarranteed benefit. I will not submit to a mandate to having purchase for profit insurance.
When Ron Paul comes out specifically about the mandate then I will listen. As things stand every party is for the mandate but none are for regulating the system. That's not true reform.
Is a gap between rich and poor inevitable in a free market system? Calling global warming a hoax.. Ridiculous.
Is it or is it a factor that is carefully factored and manipulated? Global Warming...don't we call that Climate Change today? Hoax, it depends on who you talk with.
Do you think the goal of the government is to make poor people less poor? Ha! This global warming thing is not going to help people or the planet it is going to give government more control over people and cost them more money. I do not deny that the polar caps are melting. I agree with the scientist that say global warming has to do with the earth's position in space and it's relationship to the sun and that the earth is shifting. Many scientist have been murdered because they created alternative energy devises that were simple in design and worked because the the powers that be did not want alternative energy taking hold on the market. A lot of people think the war in the middle east is about terrorism it is really about getting control of the opium/oil trade and a people that do not wish to join the UN. One world government is emerging it sounds good but a lot of people are going to die because of it. It is the reason so many chemicals are put into water and food and the nutrition of food is being devalued. They know a strong healthy population will fight against the one world government especially in the USA. If they starve us make make us afraid they can have more power over us.
