okay, so it's not exactly outdoor living, but i've been reading up, and it seems like this thread belongs here... my room is always messy because i have too much stuff in it... i've decided that i need to bring the amount of stuff down... a lot of this comes from my goal of being able to pick up my life whenever (and take it wherever) i want. I also want to just generally simplify... i was wondering if anyone else would like to join me on this... we can keep each other updated on what we're doing, keep each other motivated, share funny stories, whatever comes up! anyways, if you're interested, let me know! all levels welcome!
i know what you are trying to achieve i accumulated alot of stuff over the years! I did clean up of sorts everything i own right now fits in my car just in case i get the knack to move again. I am trying to get rid of more material items i got by giving them to charity or giving things away, my goal is to be able toput everything i own in the trunk of the car or even a big backpack.
I gave almost everything I owned away a while back. Now I make it a practice never to buy, or even let anybody give me, anything that I would feel bad about losing. I didn't realize before how much of the nameless angst roaming around inside my head was about the stuff I "owned" (that owned me). Most of that's gone now. It's a real feeling of freedom knowing that whereever I am I can just take off in any direction I want without having to go back for anything.
I gave tons of stuff to thrift shops and to friends and even threw away a couple "waste mangement" size garbage cans of stuff away. 1 friend is holding onto a big box of pictures for me tho. So all I brought with me on the greyhound bus is 2 small bags of stuff. My dad got me sneakers and few nursing scrub uniforms after I got here. Other relatives have tried to give me other stuff, but I haven't kept much of it...figure when I hop back on the bus then I can only carry the same 2 bags I came here with.
I have been steadily workiing to get rid of enough stuff to fit all of it in my car. I am just about there. I just have to get rid of some furniture and then I am there.
