So basically I was in High School for two years, my grades sucked, and I got kicked out for possesion. Now I am finishing up school online and I make mostly B's. I am applying for college this year and I want to find a cheap school with a strong hippie community that would accept most people. I am saving money now, my parents will help me but I have to save most of the cash on my own. Any advice?

I'm penniless and I hade shitty grades but I, too, probably could've done better. I'd like to go Humboldt in Northern California. I have a friend who goes there and apparently, while they're not cheap like every college, they are a lot cheaper than most in California and far easier to get into. If you like beautiful campuses in the redwoods with lots of alternative people wandering around, that is. I suppose knowing where you are, geographically, would help.

Wow thanks, it looks beautiful. I've been searching and you should check out Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. High Times named it the number 1 counter cultural school in the US. Easy admission, and they stress that grades and structure aren't important. 16k a year, I guess that's as good as it gets if your going out of state.

I'm from Kentucky btw, you can imagine the conservative, hick, bible thumpers i'm surrounded by. I am not limiting myself to where I go.

I keep running into threads about Ashville, NC...not sure if the college is in that town or close, but lots of hip people. Even talked to someone from there... said it was a cool place with good vibes.
    At least worth looking into.

    Peace

Asheville nc is where its at. Unca asheville, ab tech, warren wilson to name a few, there are soo many massage schools, craft schools like penland, herbal and meditation schools, religious schools like the billy graham training center, music schools as well. there are also workshops and classes all over the place round here like the long branch education center. a great place to get things done.

go to community college... there will be lots of hippies and stoners. you wont pay too much. and you can be flexible when you want to change majors. also it is a good base to a transfer to a four year school.

I LOVED community college. I was upset when I had to transfer. I met the most awesome people there. It was cheap. I'm so glad that my monthly student loan bills aren't as high as they would be if I went to a 4 year university right away. Now I'm looking to go back for my masters degree. I wish the community college would give me my masters degree..lol

I second (or third or whatever) mmg on going to community college first and saving your money for weed and a four-year univ after you get all your general ed classes done with. Since you're in Kentucky (and personally I like to stay kind of close to my family no matter how much they irritate me), I would suggest University of Colorado at Boulder, cause my bf grew up in Boulder and he is a major hippie. We met at Univ. of California Santa Cruz, which is also a hippie school/weed school, but would definitely be expensive to move to Cali. CSU Humboldt is also a great school I hear, very artsy and hippie and of course in the beautiful redwood forest like Santa Cruz.

community colleges are great, but sometimes feel like high school (at least in my experience). look into these schools: evergreen. i live in washington and all my wonderful hippie high school friends went there. i go to portland state and it's pretty bad ass... university of oregon is alright of a school, but in a FABULOUS town. Eugene oregon is way rad.... check it out for sure. Oh and my cousins just graduated from app state in Boone, nc and apparently its an awesome town as well.

Hey I'm from Ky. While I always wanted to attend Humbolt after I visited there. Hell I wanted to stay there, but it wasn't in my stars. Ky, eventhough it is a little backwards, has some pretty good schools. Community colleges are good and very affordable also there is financial aid available. But if your looking for a fun school try Eastern University. I went there and it was way fun.

I'm going to community college because I have to pay for it myself and can't afford to go somewhere else. I am happy with the people there. Seems to be lots more hippies this year than when I first started school.

I'm from KY as well, so this thread really helped me out a TON. I think I'll look into community college. I've got some friends heading over to Northern KY U. Apparently its pretty awesome. Just a little too far away from my family for my taste. (Especially since I have virtually NO sense of direction)

Try looking at Green Mountain College in Vermont. I'm enrolled to go there next semester...It's a very close knit hippie community and a really wonderful place! Check it out :)

I know this sounds like a stupid question,
but what colleges include a high circulation of psychedelics?
I know I'm in it for the academics, but consciousness expansion is important, too!
    ;)

all of them... really that was a pretty stupid question.

they all have psychedelics.... from Harvard and Yale(oh yeah they have good drugs) to your local technical college. it really just depends on with whom you surround yourself.

It wasn't a stupid question. I just haven't been to college yet, which is why I asked, obviously.
