Well I've been thinking about becoming a wiccan and I need some help starting out.

What will I need? Are there any must read texts?

And how do I start writing my book of shadows?

    Thanks

Well I'm not specifically a wiccan but I am a witch and have been for several years...

I'm not sure I can suggest any brilliant books that I've read because most of the things I have learned has been through following my intuition/practice.

I have however done alot of reading online and the first ever website I went to was:

    http://www.angelfire.com/on/wicca/MainPage.html

I think its quite good actually...

As for starting your BOS...maybe start with a blessing for the book (you can make it up yourself) meaningful pictures, you could make a list of magickal correspondences...

    for example:
    the metal you're drawn to:
    the gemstone you're drawn to:
    plants ""
    animals""
    places you feel most powerful/happy:
    favourite colour:

This can help later on when trying to write spells to make them more personal...

Hope any of that might help a bit!

    Peace.:piggy:

!st of all good luck on your journey! Second, here are some authors worth checking out: 1st the "classics": Scott Cunningham, Ray Buckland, Starhawk, Janet & Stuart Farrar or Janet & her current partner Gavin Bone. Then, of course, there's Gerald Gardner & Alex Saunders if you're fortunate to find them. As for more conteporary authors, I like Silver Ravenwolf, Kate West & Fiona Horne. There's also Raven Grimassi & Oberon & Morning Glory Zell-Ravenheart. As for magazines, New Witch & Pan Gaia have become 1 mag called Witches & Pagans & there's Circle. Lastly, here's a website that's an excellent way to check out what's going on in your area: http://witchvox.com/
