how would someone do enough of some of these drugs to end up in the hospital? like aspirin? really and wtf is steraline
I donno. it happens occationally, especially with OTC's; people think they're safe. I know acetaminophen poisining is actually really common. I'm kinda surprised that it's higher than acetaminophen-hydrocodone.
Marijuana??? Does that mean they are they under the influence of mj or there because of mj type overdose, because that is absurd!
I'm pretty sure it means they were under the influence of mj and fucked up. althougn i'm sure "I've smoked a gram of weed and i'm dying. i need medical attention" has come up too.
Suicide or accidental like a kid eating it. "Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is rapidly converted to salicylic acid in the body. Other salicylates, such as salicylic acid (a topical keratolytic agent and wart remover) and methyl salicylate (Oil of Wintergreen), can also cause intoxication when ingested. Methyl salicylate is a common ingredient in liniments and ointments used in management of musculoskeletal pain. One teaspoon (5 mL) of Oil of Wintergreen contains approximately 7 g of salicylate, the equivalent of 21.7 adult aspirin tablets, and ingestion of just 4 mL can be fatal in a child [1]. Herbal medications may also contain high levels of salicylates [2]. The clinical manifestations and management of all salicylate intoxications are similar. Throughout this section, the terms "aspirin" and "salicylates" will be used interchangeably. Fatal aspirin intoxication can occur after the ingestion of 10 to 30 g by adults and as little as 3 g by children." steraline or Sertraline is Zoloft
i wonder why zoloft is on there... maybe psychiatric emergencies like mania are included? or are SSRIs not great for your body?
aspirin is extremely toxic. MJ overdoses are very, very common, but not in the way you think. An overdose is just when someone takes more than they expected. You have any idea how bad some people's panic attacks get on pot? They require sedation.
I remember reading that caffeine was #94 or #96, but it was barely in the top 100. i didn't see nicotine at all, but i wonder where that one is.
This is a drug war distortion. Here ya go: "reports of marijuana do not mean people are going to the hospital for a marijuana overdose, it only means that people going to the hospital for a drug overdose mention marijuana as a drug they use" http://www.drugwardistortions.org/distortion6.htm Their weed use had NOTHING to do with the hospital visit. It makes the entire list and the people they made it, full of shit. Glad I could clear that up.
yeah, but i think that marijuana had to be involved with what they were doing. because that would bias the results against OTC drugs. I don't think people would mention acetaminophen as a drug they regularly use.
probably edibles, and people hardly responsive getting arrested and sent to the ER. i know that there have been MANY times i've been REALLY stoned and a cop would have probably thought i was on PCP or a sleeping pill overdose.
Marihuana is there only because its second most common drug of these and people are very open about weed... tons of people are using it and they are simply not scared to tell that to doctors during visit like they are with other drugs. "Yes I was smoking weed when i dropped that glass bong on my foot and broke my toe" also a lot of people report both alcohol and MJ during their visit but problem is usually alcohol... let me just say: YOU CANT HURT YOURSELF BY SMOKING WEED if you want. Iam trying for about 15 years now Of cause you can do some psychological damage if you eat big amounts of it (like all psychoactive stuff) but i survived what can be called heroic doses of MJ milk, MJ cream, MJ oil etc...
