why did GOd have a problem with the towers of Babylon? was it because it was dedicated to other gods? or because God has a problem with us reaching the stars? through buildings?

I don't think God has problems and I would think that God would be the best authority on what God's motives are.

Why does the bible support slavery?

    (Exod. 21:20-21)

When a slave owner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner's property.

    Matt. 10:24

A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master (Matt. 10:24)

    Matt. 24:45-46

Who then is the faithful and wise slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves their allowance of food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives.

I didn't ask why it supports slavery, I asked if it did originally.

I am not sure about it to be honest, so I'm going to give my opinion rather than expect it to be a concrete reasoning.
In the era these passages were written, slavery was common-place and more or less second nature. Although God would prefer us all to live free, he isn't in direct control of world politics. That's human domain. God is there to advise mankind rather than directly control it like a theocracy. As it was such a dominant part of life at the time it was written, he must have felt it best to simply give the generations of the time advice on how to treat slaves rather than reaching his hand into politics at the time and "manipulate" (for want of a better word) leaders like chess pieces to ban it. The new Testament does tell slave masters to treat their slaves in a just and equal way (Colosians 4:1) for example.
    That is my opinion anyway.

Does it even hint anywhere in the bible that slavery is immoral?

Not that I can recall, but slavery has a different connotation in the Bible than it does outside the Bible. Don't forget that there is a spiritual meaning to the word slave as well and there is another meaning which seems more like an opportunity for those in debt rather than the end all be all on what a slave can do, be, or accomplish... with the help of their masters...

I mean, it's not like they had welfare back then. Where can they go to if they are starving? This way both families can benefit at least. And we are dealing with people with a different cultural mindset and whatnot, so that's also something to keep in mind.

The Orthodox Church believes that this verse is mentioning the virgin Mary

    I agree with them.

If anyone has a different take on it, please fill us in because I'm not 100% sure.

Some would say that the employee and employer system that we have is a kind of slavery.

Probably not, but then again the Bible makes very few references to slavery to start with. Also what def zepplin mentioned about it being a different cultural mindset.

Me too. That is the Catholic stance as well, hence the doctrine of Jesus as Mary's first, and only-born.

What about the buying and selling of humans?

Are you suggesting that all mentioning of slavery in the bible is intended to be the employment of people?

What is your definition of slave, does it involve free will?

Is that part of the reason why the Catholic church believes that Jesus is God incarnate?
