I would lose my job, my house, and be away frkm my wife and daughter... so yes, I fear it and no matter how easy or short the time, or how much I may learn, I believe it would be a major setback. Now, if I was 18 again, you might get a different answer...

6 to 12 months is no big deal, I would do that over probation, better off just getting it over with. Its really not that bad if your just doing a short stint like that, you would just end up in a minimum security, as long as your not an asshole nobody will fuck with you. Its a good time to catch up on your reading, microwave cooking skills, and a good place for honing your chess skills. Anything longer though in a max security would suck, some gang involvement/affiliation is manditory if you dont want to be constantly fucked with.
go to state prison.. Get a job is CI.. "correctional industries" earn $120 a month, or get a job in kitchen earn $45 a month or sit on your ass and earn idle pay $18 a month.. buy a TV, a music instrument, typewriter.. Make tattoo gun.. Most county jails you can not earn money, it all comes out your own pocket for commissary, ect.. which will probable become expensive since there is no limits on prices as there is in state pens.. Only a idiot would want to stay in a county jail, there are no programs or inmate organizations, most likely no yard or outside movements. you will sit in a POD day in day out without weight machines, looking at the same clowns all day.. you can also NOT SMOKE in a county jails.. you can still smoke in state pens here in PA.. contact visits differ in county jails, state prisons are usually contact visits..
Well considering our biggest prison is called Mount Joy im sure its a happy playground of sunshine apart from all the convicted IRA bombers, ultra-nationalists, the Tanners and a couple of thousand nackers. Don't intend on going there but you never know...at least you dont get all that gang faction and rape shit over here. Unless your in the big criminal games our country's too small to end up doing time...unless you really arent the brightest crayon in the box.
