We are currently looking for new members to be a part of an Intentional Living Commune in Berkeley, located near University Avenue. This is a really great opportunity for a student or or person who will have time to spend tending to the property while staying here. We are hoping to organize a group of people who would be interested in helping to get this house back in running order so we can start this community as soon as possible before winter time.
This is a very private, fenced-in organic garden and orchard surrounding a Willow Tree. The house is all wood, very spacious and has the capability of being a great place to share with like minded people who are motivated, honest, hardworking and seek an enlightened living environment. It would be ideal to find people who have some previous knowledge about farming/gardening/construction/Co-Op living, etc.
Once the community gets going our main focus will be on multi-course vegan meals prepared every night and in the summer fresh grown veggies and fruits. The house is a short walk to the grocery store, public parks, bus lines and the BART subway system. Also only a mile away is Berkeley University campus.
We are asking for only people to respond if they are serious about being a part of a shared living enviroment with peaceful individuals seeking to make a change in the community. People already involved in the porject will be meeting with new friends tommorrow night, 10/28/09 at around 7 PM to have an open house dinner.

please call (510)665-5942 or email rasta420chick@yahoo.com

its been scattered dinners throughout the week, still meeting with people until we can fill up the house.so far only a couple takers but it wont be another month until they can help.so if anybody knows of people who would like to just jam or help in the garden it would be very appreciated.calls are welcomed anytime for questions just keep trying if we dont pick up we should be there later.

dear sister , i am indeed in the middle of a cornfield in iowa and for yet a while longer . i do tho have a sincere and abiding interest in creative and open family-making . at the moment , it's easy enough to send you 20 pounds of indian flour corn and dry beans via post. . for myself i grind the corn in a coffee grinder and make bread . might you have a coffee grinder about the house ? spicy bean stew with fresh ground corn bread is mighty fine .

hmm ... the only phone i have is a psy-phone . i guess i could make another one and send that along too .

i think a house in town would be a great place to do neighborhood kid projects . any ideas about such as that ?

ok how would be the best way to go about receiving these? what kind of beans will they be and could the corn be replanted? never have worked with planting corn...

well right now the process is moving slow because unfortunately the location we are in relies on the college for its busy schedule so not many people in the city have had enough time to visit or get involved. apparently though in a couple weeks is when we are really hoping to fill the house up. but for now ive been the only one cleaning this HUGE house and i might be having to go back to florida to see family for the holidays, so its vital to gt people involved now.

As for the long term goals of the house its hard to say at this point because the house might be sold after winter.its still in the air.

its hopefully going to be sold to someone who wants to keep the commune spirit alive.Getting families and children here would be essential to the well-being of the community because we know that they are the next generation who needs to be taught the correct path of life from the beginning. I have brought up a free school idea to the owner of the house and he agreed it would definently be a possibility.

    love and light,Belinda

belinda , the possibilities of the house being sold so soon and
the creation of a free shool cannot be held in one hand . it makes
    for an unbelievable situation .

believe me tho , the corn i send you will grow when planted . it has just been harvested
and has complete vitality . i guess i'll grind you some flour and send that along with a handful
of beautiful seed you may plant in the spring .

perhaps you be able to try a Three Sisters Garden - of corn and beans that climb the corn and
squash that vines and covers all the ground between and around them . there are books that
    explain it : it's a traditional native garden .

the beans i currently have for eating are a south american purple spotted dried lima bean . when
soaked boiled simmered in a pot they are just brown . good for eating but these are too old for planting .
i planted and harvested just a small plot of beans this year and these are the seed for another garden .

    o , little seeds .

what would you teach them freely ?
i'd do free language . it's what i do at every gathering
under some wonder tree or another near where the kid's are bliss .

you see kids at play in your neighborhood ?

that would be so amazing of you to do for us. i can send the address to you in a PM.

well i guess a free school in the direct future would be rather difficult, but if we can have a set precedent for the new owners they may keep the communal light blazing if we can show what an important project this is and can still be.

across the street is a community youth program but the neighborhood is in a weird social setting, its right on the edge of the newer part of town so its more apartments and not much space for kids to play. thus why its even more important to get them involved in something more positive. i would love to teach some language or health.

You still looking for a caretaker/musician/audio engineer/old hippy guy, who can legally grow the best pot in the world? <---If you can grow pot, you can grow a tomato. :)
