Look at the comment section, it's not as bad as it seems... Roger already debunked some of the germs stuff and she thanked him for his point of view. Even though it's an old post, I still added a post with the link to the SBL site too, and I think there's a good chance she will read it and at least partially change her mind (she doesn't have to take off her shoes and go barefoot, but I bet she'll be less disgusted when seeing others do so).

This shows why we should always stay calm and simply explain when people write things like her blog entry. Many people, especially in the US where anti-barefoot myths are common, truly believe that bare feet are dangerous or unhealthy. And while I wish people wouldn't get their health education off the signs on store windows, as long as so many stores, including well-known national chains, post signs proclaiming 'shoes required by the Health Department' can we truly blame people for believing that? Of course we should post better info and links to the HD letters and all, but I try not to be disgusted at the initial post (or poster). Life's too short to Google and verify every sign you see or every comment you hear, it's only when people totally ignore every bit of info you give them, refuse to even look at it, or constantly think up new arguments why bare feet should not be allowed, that I get annoyed.

Please, read the reply she posted to Roger and also her very last reply (she just added it today, may've been after your reading) -she is *not* closed-minded, just hadn't questioned the way she was raised. Ignorant maybe, but I'm sure I am ignorant on some issues in life. She has read our posts, and listened to them. Why then the unfriendly post? That isn't going to help us any, few people are going to be inclined to read up on things if we're going to cuss at them and call them names immediately.
(And if you're going to comment on someone's grammAr, you should take care to spell it correctly! :p)

As a New Zealander I can honestly say I have NEVER had a problem with being barefoot. A couple of times I have had to put on a shirt, but in everyday life, bare feet are everywhere

Her later post to Roger was nice but now it's blocked and I can't see it.
