Luvie, Cinn is close, her energy is everywhere. Hold her unto your heart and remember her in her strenght. So many she has helped along the way, her trials were over and she went home to Great Spirit. I see ppl post to her in her store and I dont know what to do or say really bc there was so much to Cinnamon, she had a true heart and a raidient spirit. Her presence will be missed but her spirit remains in our memories.

    Blessings

Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a good life. I am me because of you and that's worth a price no amount of money can match. I love you all (or y'all, depending upon your regional upbringings).

One more thing. Let's give thanks to those that have gone before but touched us while they were with us: Cyril, Taurus Barbara, GregWah, Aries Ron, Jerry the Jeweler, Harmonica Leroy, Herman the Plumber, Sag Johnny, Redheaded Lisa, and so on.

    p.s.: Who's got 'house' today?

    Hi all:
Steve Kever suggested I drop in. I'm an author (and founder and former editor of Salon.com, the progressive Web magazine). I'm now working on a book and PBS documentary about San Francisco history, from the 1960s to the early '80s. I'm exploring San Francisco as a capital of progressive ideas, and how those "San Francisco values" did -- or didn't -- triumph. I interviewed Steve -- and another Haight-Ashbury legend, the longtime activist Calvin Welch -- for the project, and both of them filled me in on the importance of the Church of the Good Earth Family Commune to the neighborhood. I would like very much to interview others who were deeply involved in the Commune, during its Haight heyday. If you would like to share your stories for the project, please contact me at my email address:
    david@talbotplayers.com
    Thanks very much,
    David Talbot

I wanted to let folks know that I spoke with David, a very talented writer, and encourage anyone who would like to get in touch with him as part of his project,
to do so. I think we have a unique viewpoint on the Haight during the late 60s and early 70s.(wild Bill,Zev,Mouse)
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I have so much to be grateful for. Dana

I'm going to talk with David this week. I am sure that his resources and insight will do well to illustrate the reality of San Fran back in the day. I hear Dave Mason when I think of you, dear sister. Whatever happened to Laura Weed, btw?

(Sorry about reposting this in another section but a kind member suggested that 408 Cole may have been a Good Earth home and as such I might have better luck here)

Hi, I am the son of Bonnie Sue Solomon who lived at 408 Cole (across from the Mansons) starting in 1967. Her housemates that I know of included Don Allan Robertson, Cleve Hattersly, Colin Easton and his wife Carol. Bonnie worked in the HIP Jop Co-op along with Don. Bonnie was a nursing school student at the time and apparently liked helping folks out through bad trips in room above the HIP Job Co-op.

I am in touch with Don, Cleve, and Colin.

Bonnie died 19 years ago from a surgical infection. Carol died long ago as well from I believe a car accident.

I was born in December of 67 and put up for adoption. Sadly I did not learn of Bonnie until this February. (Though on the bright side I did find my great half sister who by chance in the past was looking for me through these forums.

I do have many contacts of Bonnie's from her days of singing in Les Nickelettes, Freak Ralph and the Pointless Sisters, the Pointless Sisters and onwards. However, I really know little about her time in the Haight pre 1969. If any of you knew her and have stories I'd love to hear them. It also appears that the group at 408 Cole didn't take much in the way of photos. For example, I have not been able to find any photos of their marriage in Golden Gate Park. If any out there have shots of them in the dynamic days of the Haight I'd love to know.

And finally, there is a book that was kept at the HIP Job Co-op or possibly 408 Cole called "Herman's Manual" that I would love to see if anyone knows who has it now. Apparently it was a diary of musings from folks who passed through the area as well as fun scraps.

    Best wishes to all.

Normey. Sorry, bro'. I wasn't around when you were born and don't know the folks you're looking for. Anybody else here know who he's looking for?

Dana. Spoke for two hours with David today and scheduled to do more in the next couple of days. He totally rocks. I don't know if you know this or not but his father was the great character actor Lyle Talbot. Look him up on imdb.com, quite a career. And David's brother, Stephen, was Gilbert on "Leave It To Beaver".

Everybody else, I recomend e-mail this guy and set up a phone interview. Especially you ChrisWah as he couldn't quite grasp the convergence of STP with GE.

SH. Love you so much for your support.

Cheryl. U is 2 fuggin' young to be a gee ma.

I'm gearin' up to contribute some more recollections on the daze, so expect some musings within the next week or so.

    hey folks

I hope you all had a great bird day and are now fully recovered from the turkey induced comas.
Thought i'd share a new great moment Last night I played a gig at the BITTER END in NYC; Tthe first time I had played that club in approx. 45 years. The response to my piano playing was great and gratifying. I'm sitting on top of the world. It's a lot different from playing background music for a brunch crowd (which I enjoy but prefer clubs and concerts. Y'all stay well and be warned. I hope to go west when the weather gets warm and visit as many of you as possible.
    Love to you all
    Zev

WTG Zev..I hope one of the places you'll visit is here.. we'll put on a brisket and a pot of beans, I'll make cornbread and potatoe salad, brewup a pitcher of iced tea and bake an apple pie :D
I'm not a drinker anymore but hubby drinks beer if your into that. We can go out to the lake and wet a hook and fry up some fish.
I like to take my coffee out on the front deck and watch the butterflys in the mornings. They flutterby from the pasture across the road to have their morning necter in my flower gardens. They put on a lovely display as they dart from flower to flower and sip they sweet hony from each one..
When Ranger came out to visit, we would sit and watch them proform their daily ritual of feasting on the flowers. Then the humming birds would make their appearence and attack the feeders in a frenzy.
Mother always put on a delightful show, right down to the playful squrrels stealing fruit off the trees. I always look forward to Spring.

    Hope to see you there.

To all the Good Earth Family,

I will be turning 71 in a few days, and like all old men I sit with my peace-pipe and contemplate the Then, the Now, and the Tomorrow. At 71 I am probably the third oldest surviving member from those early beginning days. The only ones that I can think of who are older than me are Dana's mother, and Rebecca, the white haired lady on the mountain, a early soulmate of Nathanial.

What brings on all this nostalgia is that I was recently contacted by a journalist, David Talbolt, who is doing a documentry and book on the Haight-Ashbury. About who was there and where are they now. He was refered to me by Calvin Welch. I did an interview with him over the phone. When he asked me what happened after we left the city I refered him to Hip Forum, Mouseman, Ranger, and Wild Bill. I have no idea of what will become of his efforts nor at one level do I care. He asked about Cyril and others. I wouldn't give him any last names. Anybody who would like to contact him can do so at david@talbotplayers.com.

What this contact did to me was to get me thinking. The communal movement of that time (1968) played a big part in G.E.s' development. For our concept of The Good Earth we wanted to create an inclusiveness whereby a person could not or would not be voted in or out-- carring a patch-- which is alright, but that was not how Cyril, Dana, Mama Kitten, Nathanial, I and others envisioned for a model of our lifestyle. Only in death can you leave the Good Earth. All you had to do was to commit to the idea and you are a member. The family evolved out of those people who worked together, combined resources for the betterment of the ideal. Durring that process Cyril and I became Universal Life Ministers. Cyril's, in particular, and mine was that we are all ministersl in spreading truth. Existentially speaking we are all alone. It is in this aloneness that we are one. We all see the Universe, Reality from our personal perspective. In Spiritually, philosophically it is Cyrilism, Staceyism, you might want to add that ism to your moniquer. John Lennon once said all the isms of the past are dead. Taking it one step further, "Are we on the road to a new or different reality?" Do we want to be the best we can be? For further thinking on some of what I have said Google Hensley Universal Life Church. Check it out. What do we think? I'm not talking about an enity, but a consciousness, sometimes refered to as a "Cosmic conssciousness. What do you, we think today. What does our future hold? How or do we want to relate to those early days? Today, personally, through thick and thin, these are still my basic values as I attempt to continually search for the beyond. The Commune, the family are you all for me. No matter how long we have been out of communication that has never changed

I have said it before, because of our economic base in particularly in the beginning, because of our sacrament and the politics of some of us, we were constantantly undeer seige by the system. Slowly our economic efforts evolved until to day we as individuals are scattered over the land and involved in a varriety of different enterprises. From what I read we have evolved in many ways and yet we are one
