I thought the book was very somber with a tear jerker ending. I'm glad I was able to read it before the movie came out, haven't seen it yet. I'm a fan of Viggo Mortessen though, his performances in the Cronenberg films A History of Violence and Eastern Promises was stellar.

I thought reading the book was sheer drudgery. Viggo Mortessen might make the movie watchable though.

The book was very good. I'm not too sure on how they turned this into a movie. I feel like they butchered the hell out of it. The trailers don't look too promising. I'll still see it out of respect for Cormack.
