It turns out an accredited dental professional prescribed vicodin. I think he's the dental version of the loose pen M.D. you mentioned. Now before I put my foot in my mouth for my harsh words- he was not a dentist, but an endodontist. Those guys function in a more painful field and do prescribe opiates more willingly (my made up reasoning, nothing more).

I got in to see him a day early and the root-canal is done. Ahhh, relief! It still hurts but nothing like the weekend. He said the tooth was pretty riled up inside. It is nice to hear that I wasn't crazy.

And the prescription for vicodin- I didn't even have to ask, just told him my medical history and he took the iniative and wrote it. That's the first time that has ever happened to me. I told him I planned to stockpile most of them for the next time I encounter a cruel stingy dentist. He did not mind me saying that.

We talked about doctors versus dentists & endodontists. He didn't say why, but like you said, someone is watching over the dental guys a lot more closely and it's pretty easy for a flag to go up somewhere, which I think leads to an audit.

Hello. I've heard for a stimulant pain-killer. It's called 2-AminoIndan.

It doesn't get you high, maybe like a coffee, but it's said that it kills the pain. Not sure how much. But If I would be you, I would try it.

I've had two root canals in my life and I've never been subscribed anything. They told me to take tylenol if the pain was bothering me. :S I managed fine with the tylenol. If ppl like me can manage, then I imagine that is why you are met with doubt from dentists that you need something stronger. I didn't even get laughing gas when they did it.

yeah sorry for your luck--i scammed docs for years for every pill available--the scam was junkies would find docs who would "write" then they would turn u on to them for half the pills--i had so many i had to keep a ledger with docs and pharmacies so i wouldnt accidently get em confused-plus wrote my own scripts and called in my own pills-yeah i had mad skils---so hate on --you are making me cry in my beer while the opiates are running out my nose from laughing at your lame ass life---------waah im almost crying for you but im too busy laughing at your incompentence---if you need pain meds and have to rely on doctors your just dont deserve then Darwimism in action youll probably be dead from a heart attack caused from to much pain soon while us more evolved will stay alive and out of pain----your pathetic

Screw all this. Scamming is part of the disease of addiction, which is inevitable for some. There are legal drugs, alcohol, in particular that does far more damage to society than opiates do. My opinion is to regulate alcohol more closely and lighten up on opiates since it's a legitimate treatment for pain. My doctor looked at my MRI from 3 years ago saying that I shouldn't be describing the type of pain I'm in based on the results from it. I forgot to mention the age of that MRI and since then, it's gotten worse. With no insurance, my options are limited. I'd rather be addicted to vike, percocet, or morphine than deal with the backache and shooting pains down my legs that i have when I sit or stand too long.

I agree that doctors and the DEA should lighten up on opiates and crack down harder on alcohol and methamphetamines. People using opiates don't get all stupid, belligerent and cause car crashes like drunks do...and going out drinking is completely socially acceptable, whereas popping a few pills to feel allright is frowned upon. Alcohol is a toxin to every tissue in our body and does brain damage...opiates leave the brain intact and aren't a toxin. The danger is simply addiction and overdose due to lack of breathing. Tobacco kills far more people than narcotics on a yearly basis, too. Why are alch and tobacco legal? Because the government is making loads of money off them through taxes. They don't give a rat's ass that it's killing people and they're almost as addictive as an opiate. opiate users are generally peaceful people, so are stoners....alcoholics are the ones instigating fights, beating their spouses and making complete jackasses of themselves.

On a therapeutic basis, straight opiates are far less harmful than using tylenol or NSAIDS to control pain. The DEA needs to wake their asses up and look at reality. If I could go to the store and buy a bottle of morphine tabs or oxy tabs without a script, just tax it and the gov't will make their money and it'll be on the user to control their useage. Sure, people may overdose, but many overdose and kill others through alcohol use too.

I'm sticking with my opiates and I've never done anything I've regretted while under their influence. Known too many people who've done stupid things and gotten in trouble as a result of drinking too much. It just pisses me off. If someone needs opiates for pain, let them have what they need! I feel ya, man.

 

Although I dont agree with many of the OP's thoughts and ideas, some of them are pretty valid. I am a heroin addict and an occasional pill popper and I know some of the lengths friends of mine go through to get pain meds from doctors and clinics. I myself have gone to clinics several times, although I don't even go through to bullshit of making up a story- you'd have more luck telling them you're having heavy withdrawal from opiates.

Those of you who are just calling him a 'whiner' seem to just be trying to justify some of the thing which he is whining about. He is whining, but he is whining about valid points. By calling him a 'whiner' and making that your sole argument, you have no merit. You are simply using an irrelevant argument to justify your actions.

 

I feel for your condition, but it sounds like a personal problem to me. This has been happening since the start of pharmasuticals. While I dont condone faking an illness to get rX meds, it is just as much of the doctors fault to believe a bullshit story. And for your information a lot of it is greedy doctors who quadroople their income by being a drug dealer on the side. This is how many people get their meds, by having a doctor as a friend. Hope things get better for you but everyone is out to get a fix.

Blame your local congressman, if the drugs werent illegal people wouldnt have to scam docs. And if you have such a problem with all this...why would you even register on the site, you know no one is going to say "this guy is completely right, im gonna change my life now!"

 

As someone with a major medical problem who needs opiates to have any quality of life I hate seeing people trying to scam doctors. But on the other hand I sort of understand, they make people feel good, and especially with addicts who are desperate or in WD. People would be trying to get cocaine or any drug off doctors too were it possible. Anything thats addictive or causes euphoria is going to be chased after.
