For fans of darker, heavier prog rock like Tool and Porcupine Tree, Karnivool is becoming increasingly popular. Their latest album Sound Awake is a huge step up from Themata, which was incredible in its own right. And their singer always looks like he's tripping on something so that's always a plus :D

The vocalist reminds me a TON of Biff from Apartment 26. Not so much his actual voice, but the way he sings. The music sounds like it should be a lot lighter and more fun than it is. If the entire song sounded like the chorus, I'd probably dig it more.

It's heavy prog rock with dark lyrics, what do you expect?

Thankyou so much for posting this! Porcupine tree and tool are some of my favourites, and karnivool is now right up their with them. The set fire to the hive video gave me shivers when the pyramids started exploding;)

also the waspy guitar tone is fucking cool!

Thanks Stabby, because of your post I checked up the vid - excellent song btw - and I listened to "Sound Awake" on Spotify, loving their stuff ! I feel they could have a similar story to P. Tree and by their fourth album or so, have quite a fanbase in the world of rock. Great to see new bands like this coming up!
