Why do so many str8 folks assume ALL gay men are into anal?

i don't think it's wrong for straight men to assume gay men always engage in anal, lets face it, most of us do. sure, some of us like it more than others, myself included, but you have to admit that almost every gay man has at one time or another had tried anal sex. and for most, not all, but most men, anal sex is a big part of their lives.

My vote is most straights think of "sex" as penetration.

I've always hated that. I think "mutual sexual pleasuring" = sex.

 

It's not just str8 men: Women also assume this. I guess I'm bothered by the word "most." I wonder where this info is coming from? I mean, most of the gay men I have known (and we're talkin' hundreds) might have tried anal sex a few times (especially when they were first coming out), but it was not a constant sex practice: oral sex, kissing, cuddling, massage, etc.--this was more the norm. So I'm just challenging the stereotype. The whole Top/Bottom thang tends to get old pretty quick. Also, I think it's more a state of mind: Tops might seem more masculine on the surface, but bottoms are ultimately the ones in control. I prefer the idea of equality. And that can be a tricky situation in both gay and str8 relationships.

There's gotta be a point where people recognize a generalization or a semantics argument and get over it because it's just how humans work and communicate.

I could say your tone and words show a generalization about 'str8' people but that would be silly because I know that nobody is that black and white and I understand the context of your questioning.

 

I don't really mind that. This really cute guy who lives with me won't believe me that I have not had anal sex with a guy. He says real gays love it in the ass, lol, and he says the 'real gays' because I told him I'm bisexual. I told him I have been meaning to try, and that I have masturbated anally, but that I just don't like it as much. I do like anal sex, but I don't like it through the back, and I know this isn't exactly on point of the thread, but straight people assume a lot and this is just another thing a few guys have told me.

I was actually thinking of running with the discrimination showed in his post. Mostly that the anti-sodomy conservatives are 'str8' =P

 

The trick is, they dont all focus on the same aspects and in the same way.

And if you think about it, how they react gives them away, male or female, if its the dumb up the butt jokes they themselves focus on peneterive sex, if they are pissy or angry usually means they are frustrated just as they would get pissy or angry with other heteros they think are getting more than them, or if they focus on the kissing they themselves would be more love inclined.

Sometimes the giggles, gay is icky or wrong or whatever, sometimes thats just the cover for whats really bothering them, sometimes it really doesnt have anything to do with us.

Its not what they say you have to pay attention to, its the different ways they say it

I love anal (receiving) and have met a number of gay guys that don't like it, giving or receiving, it just isn't their thing. that being said, the vast number of gay guys I've met do like anal. from that I can't say most gay guys like anal, it is just random statistics and nothing could be infered from that.
