I am from a small/average size suburban town with a population of 15,000-20,000 but I plan on moving to Los Angeles, CA and maybe San Francisco in a year or so. I lived in LA for about 2 years in the past and love it. I feel like I get a long with a lot more people there than I do in my town. I have a group of friends out there and a lot of aquaintences so I already have people out there. Plus I am self employed and have the flexibility to travel, plus money is not an issue. I will be financially stable and most def. middle class. But I will be moving from a smaller town in the mid-west to a large metropolitan city. I am 25 years old now and really need to experience living on my own and being very independent which I've never fully done before. In the past when I lived in LA, I'd always live in my California home for a few months then go back to to my hometown for a few months. I've never truly been "on my own". I'd really like any advice anyone may have for me so I don't fail as I start a whole new life out there.

Here are my problems: I have BAD CREDIT!! Like really bad. Five years ago I was a victim of identity thievery and received counterfeit checks that I cashed and was unaware they were fake. I already got most of this mess cleared up but I am not able to get a savings or checking account with any bank I've tried in California. I've been declined and I've never even owned a credit card in my life. So it may be hard to find a house and get a bank account. Should I try credit unions? Also would it be difficult if I wanted to get a California state ID? What would all be required? And the last major issue, I don't have any health insurance. I do need to speak with a doctor about social anxiety as well as a few other health concerns and questions. How would I find a new doctor and are there ways to get health insurance aside from employment benifits? Knowing all of this, do you think I can survive moving alone? Does anyone have advice on how I can obtain an ID, bank account and health insurance? What do I need to do before I move?
