December 23 1989 so I'm Capricorn on the cusp of Sagittarius but I'm nothing like a Capricorn... for the most part but I heard theirs a lot more to it like time of day your born and location so that's like 11:49 am in Washington dc can someone give me an astrological shakedown?
being that close to the cusp means you've got alot of sag tendencies, maybe moreso than capricorn.....but, your doubtfulness about being cap-like means you're very capricorn indeed, hehe i'm sure someone here would be more than happy to give you the astrological shakedown - i've got a very good understanding of the signs and planets, but charting it all is just too much math for me!

One could be one day into the next sign, and have all your major placements in that sign. No confusion there. It's like being born on the Mexican border. Even if you were born on the American side, just one block from the border fence, would you call yourself part-Mexican? Or a Mexican in Mexico born a block from the border, he'd call himself Mexican-American? You are, or you aren't. It's that simple. Mars in Sagittarius, ooh! Restless, restless! If it were only that easy to control one's controlling forces. I challenge you find me someone with Mars in one of those super-restless, always-gotta-have-something-to-do, easily-bored signs: Gemini, Sagittarius or Virgo, who can sit still in a Lazy-Boy rocker for 10 minutes without getting ansty, fidgety, even while watching TV. My heart goes out to these people. Many people admire them for all that restless, unbound energy, but inside they are crying! How they wish they could just veg out for an evening and do nothing at all, unless accompanied by some alcoholic beverages or drugs. And those with those negative moon signs. You may have tried everything in your power to cheer these cheerless types up, to no avail. They, themselves, try all they want, they just can't seem to escape their black moods, jet-black depressions, pessimism.
Nice to see some informed contributions to this normally devoid-of-substance astrology forum, MichaelJE, but watch the sweeping generalizations. The upliftment of consciousness can dramatically alter the manifest form of any sign placement, and many of your descriptions are only applicable to the societally conditioned forms of the signs. Just to counterbalance some of your rather black-or-white claims, I know a woman with her Mars in Gemini who can sit in Vipassana meditation for 4 hours at a time. I know a man with his Moon in Capricorn who not only overcame depression but a malignant cancer of his ankle that doctors said would be terminal without amputation. And as far as the cusps go, the energy emanated by the heavenly bodies isn't rigid or uniform, it's nebulous and malleable. The precession of the equinox is much like the changing seasons -- just because the calendar says March 21st doesn't mean we can't still have blizzards and sub-zero temperatures. The Sun may technically be in Sagittarius if the native was born on the 24th of November, but that doesn't mean that they won't retain some strong elements of Scorpionic intensity and volatility.
