http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hipforums I created the page while bored. Skip, can you check the facts are correct please? I hope you like it, I thought a huge web forum like this deserved a wiki recognition! next we need a wiki page for skip methinks. Edit:never mind, it seems it got deleted already! What a shame. As a reference, this was the page's Content: The Hipforums is the message board sister site of the Hippyland Universe, which has been run by Skip Stone since 1996. The Hipforums boasts well over 400 message boards, as well as user-created Personal forums, which a member can create and run once they have upgraded their account. Personal Journals were first offered in February 2005, as long as the user had reached the posting level of "member". The site's discussion forums range from naturism to arts and crafts and from film to religion. As of 4:06am GMT+1 on the 18th november 2009 there have been 354,384 threads created, with 5,674,990 posts made. 170,516 members are currently signed up on the forums. Although the forums have specialised mini-forums for users of illegal drugs, the site's disclaimer points out that it does not encourage members to break the law, and that illegal activity is not tolerated. As well as the main forums, the Hipforums also has it's own dedicated Java-based chat room. There are 4 permanent chat rooms, Gay Chat, Hip Chat, Love Chat and UK Chat. The Stoner's Lounge chat is available on demand. The site's server is situated in Amsterdam.c
i think there should be a hipforums entry on wiki... the reason for deleting it was pretty weak, there are other entries on wiki about website of note, I think the Fail is on wiki for not having hipforums listed.
Wiki is pretty useful if you're searching for stuff, but it can be frustrating if you're the one trying to MAKE a page. I myself recently almost made a page of...well, myself(I'm a musician) and found out I couldn't because it was against the ToS of Wiki. Upon reading their ToS, I got the gist that I can't even get a friend to do this for me. It's stupid. It's even more stupid if they can't keep something like a HF wiki page listed. HF is a big website with a ridiculous number of registered members, and it's been around for many years. It certainly deserves its own wiki page.
I totally agree with this. Perhaps the OP and another HF member can work together, and try a second time? I've heard it can take several attempts to actually get a Wiki entry posted: They're very strict about sources and such. So don't lose hope. I think it's a really cool idea. --QP
no body is just dumbfounded by this site and need an encyclopedia style explanation of it. You were just advertising.
I can understand that, but it doesnt seem to apply across the board... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ask.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogster http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google just about every website has an "encyclopedia style explanation". So why not this one?
What morons, they will allow google and ask.com to have a page but Hipforums can't? Where's the wiki ToS violation against google?
One of the supermoderators tried to create a page in 2006. It was hijacked by people who had problems with hipforum's policies, and then wikipedia deleted it because they didn't think it was a valid article. I don't really understand why Hipforums is not entitled to an article, but it seems that it isn't.
