it isnt sweeping generalizations i can get you more links to experiment cases if you really want to go that route stop smoking altogether? i say stay sober for a few weeks and see if it helps
I tried school for a semester. Decided that it wasnt for me. Got jobs working some badass places including Yellowstone National Park. Now I'm thinking about going to culinary school. Don't go to school just because it is expected. Make sure you are going because you want to.
So according to you, people who smoke weed are "slow, for sure". That is exactly what a sweeping generalization is, what are you confused about? You sure it was the weed that was making you slow? :smilielol5:
i had trouble my first year as well. still have trouble focusing on work hang in there, you'll get through it. i wanted to drop out so badly last year but i kept with it and i will finish
are you seriously going to deny that weed makes people less motivated, decreases memory and overall slower? you are a straight up idiot dude, seriously. im all for smokin weed, but people like you make smokers look like ignorant assholes. also, you are saying im making sweeping generalizations...where? it is scientifically, experimentally and in every day peoples' cases PROVEN that it in fact does make you slower. google "effects of cannabis on human brain" if you really dont fucking believe me you stupid fuck
Yes I will agree that weed will make you a bit slower.. For some people.. For me it sort of deepens my thinking. So for stuff like a history of English paper I write them high but math homework is sober or if it's a huge project adderall.. And that's just because math is such a finicky subject were every little bullshit things has to be correct.. Now I am only a sophmore but I can tell when weed has effected my work.. I have certain friends around me that tell me hey man, lay off the pipe get some work done!! Good friends keep you in check.. Look girl.. Adderal can help.. As it is my favorite school rec. Drug but if you don't think you need it no need to.. Don't get something started you don't want.. An IMHO depending on adderal to study and focus is a step towards being dependant on it completely... Just saying.. An I must admit.. I'm on adderal now and probably will be all week.. Because I have a 50 in a class I should have an a in so it's time to catch up.. I have a research paper due and it's a 300point grade and honestly my teacher is a hard ass dude if I miss one thing grammer spelling format or the essay is bad one mistake is -10 points then if I miss another in that same area I.e. Grammer spelling format or essay content.. My grade in that area is an F! Fuck!!! But I feel you hardcore.. As for college I agree if it's not what you want to do don't.. It's your life.. Live it ( while at the same time try to be a bit realectful to your parents hell they raised you)
well i looked for adderall, no luck (only know one person who does it anyway, and shes trying to stop). so i went to the library, finally finished my english paper. met my friend for dinner, and i ended up going to her dorm to finish the law paper. i dont know how the fuck i got it done cause shes like the most distracting person on the planet, but we planned to smoke weed once i finished so that motivated me i guess. of course, i went to bed at like 11:30 and slept through my class this morning. I honestly dont know what else i can do about waking up for this class, no matter how early i go to bed i still sleep through my alarm, and it sucks cause theres nothing i can do about that, i just wake up and see that its like 9.
I was feeling that way last year too. But then I got suspended and had to stop smoking weed for like 5 months or so. I realized I was being a dumbass and that I didn't want to work in the real world yet haha. I'm going to a community college right now... I can't wait to get back to a real school. Getting suspended put everything into perspective for me and helped me realize what I wanted to do.
Are you serious? Sweeping generalization. Just to clarify you do know what I mean when I say sweeping generalization. Smoking weed makes you slow for sure. That is a sweeping generalization. You are saying it is true for every single person that smokes weed everyday. Like All women love shopping. All men love sports. It may be true for the most part, but is it accurate to say "all" of them are? I deny that smoking weed makes people less motivated because I believe people make themselves less motivated. You can do this by smoking weed, watching tv, playing video games, eating food, etc. I think claiming weed is the sole reason someone has become less motivated is a cop-out. You now have something to blame instead of yourself, how convenient. Weed does hurt memory, no argument there. And finally, overall slower? I don't even know what you mean. When I get high and go run with my dog at the park, am I running slower? I don't agree with that either but I understand your point. I love doing shit high and a lot of times a bowl will perk me up because I don't get much sleep with work and school. Then again a lot of people don't do shit while they are stoned. Just because weed makes your brain slower, doesn't mean it has to make you unmotivated and lazy. More prone to, but worthy of a sweeping generalization? I think not. Actually, you appear to be the asshole here. You assumed you knew my opinion off of tiny comments from me, be careful of ASSumptions in the future. Is this you with your "head straight" from only smoking on the weekends? Sounds like you need to smoke. :sifone:
neuroptican, it isnt a sweeping generalization when there is scientific evidence to back me up. all youve been doin is bitching, im telling you it is the fucking truth. whether you want to deny it or not...seriously - you can smoke weed and function fine, but it definitely effects you. apparently it also make you an ignorant fuck here: " Not surprisingly, marijuana intoxication can cause distorted perceptions, impaired coordination, difficulty in thinking and problem solving, and problems with learning and memory. Research has shown that marijuana’s adverse impact on learning and memory can last for days or weeks after the acute effects of the drug wear off.2 As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time." http://www.nida.nih.gov/infofacts/marijuana.html "Does marijuana cause memory loss, apathy, etc? While these questions haven't been settled (big surprise), scientific fans of cannabis now put a different spin on them. Getting stoned makes you forgetful? Hey, that's not a bug, it's a feature. Biologist Robert Melamede, author of the article cited above, writes, "Cannabinoids control the extinction of painful memories. What a blessing for those suffering from debilitating or life threatening illnesses: cannabinoids may help them to forget their misfortune." Cannabinoids also regulate nerve sensitivity, preventing early cell death due to overexcitement--in other words, they make cells mellow out much as they do the whole organism." http://www.straightdope.com/columns...n-what-are-the-long-term-effects-of-marijuana "Mental side effects such as Anxiety, paranoia and depression have also been linked to long term use of the drug. Users that smoke often fall behind their peers both intellectually and socially as the drug has a damaging effect on the ability to retain memories and information." http://www.articlealley.com/article_1071244_17.html This shit isnt unknown, it isnt the same DARE propoganda that you see in schools, it is scientific FACT that marijuana use decreases memory. again, im all for smoking weed, but doing so responsibly, which includes acknowledging the negatives - something that maybe you should look into, because it has apparently blocked your ability to take in information. you are fucktarded if you dont understand what i mean by weed making your slower...you are being ignorant just to be a stubborn ass. i think that you are just so adamant about marijuana use that you fail to accept that it has BAD side effects. you may be an anomaly in which marijuana doesn't effect your memory and learning ability - in which case i suggest two things: A) go to a clinic and suggest you get tests done to explore your unique case or B) smoke real weed and not some ditch from the side of the highway in point, im not going to argue this anymore because it is hardly an argument. you are backing your "claims" with no evidence or proof besides your own unique experience.
i did, it read somethin like a gargled mess of what all you have said before. like i SAID - you aren't backing anything by saying "in MY experience" blah blah blah you sound like a fuckin idiot dude, especially when you ignore truth
I am not ignoring anything that's what you apparently don't get. I'm not talking about the physical effects, I'm talking about the mental effects, like laziness and procrastination. And dude, CALM DOWN!
im calm haha you arent ignoring what i say? then why has this conversation gone on. i thought it is common knowledge that pot's side effects are lower memory, lack of concentration, etc etc everything i quoted and have been talking about has been the mental effects. where the fuck are you getting physical? oh thats right, when you said smoking pot doesnt make you run slower when you are running with your dog... okay people, we have learned that pot DOESN'T make neuroptican run any slower than normal, however it DOES make him unable to comprehend and read simple english.
I meant physical like brain chemistry, sorry about that. And about running with my dog, it was a joke dude, to lighten the mood and to show I was at least attempting to keep it civilized. I continue to talk on the subject because you just don't seem to understand what I've been trying to get across, which I do blame on myself, but you also just seem to be someone who gets way upset easily when someone doesn't agree with you. But, maybe later.
im not upset...im a little disgruntled because it seems you are disagreeing simply to disagree and to not recognize the facts. if you say that weed doesnt make people slow then, please, provide me some citation and i will gladly join your side of the argument. until then, stfu
The best way to gain focus is to practice focusing by practicing mediation. If you are too impatient, I vote addies to the domeski.
Ya I do that a lot, but only when I see a potential hole in someone's opinion. It's not my comprehension skills, as you neg repped me for, but rather my instinct to question other people's opinions, even if I agree with them. Imagine that. What I didn't get across was I pretty muchagree with you haha, but you apparently thought I think weed has no negative aspects to it. I just don't agree with your "sweeping generalization" when you said that smoking weed everyday or all the time makes you slow. Slow is a pretty broad word by the way. I took your use of "slow" as things like laziness, apathy, procrastination, and memory. I agree that apathy and memory problems are results of heavy smoking (though apathy doesn't have to be bad, you can put a positive spin on it, but that is another subject). But in my opinion, laziness and procrastination are the individual's fault, not smoking everyday. You can smoke everyday and get shit done, you just need self-control and a good mindset to do it, which unfortunately not a lot of people are capable of. If someone would rather smoke a bowl then do their homework, and then blame the weed for not concentrating, I just feel like it's a cop-out. I mean, even the shit you posted said: "As a result, someone who smokes marijuana every day may be functioning at a suboptimal intellectual level all of the time." http://www.nida.nih.gov/infofacts/marijuana.html See, it is a sweeping generalization. It wouldn't be if it was absolutely true. It may be more than likely true, but nonetheless...
it is biological in the tendencies for people to be lazier, lose memory etc when you smoke weed - personal will and personality will make the effects of it different. but yes - weed can make you lazy, weed can make you apathetic, and weed can make you forget where your keys are at
