areet, been about 8 or 9 month since a started and i only using water to wash my hair once a week. A had a dandruf prolem in the begining from usin the dread head bolix but a stoped using that months ago an the dandruf stoped.

Thing is me dreads dont seem be locking up much, they are knoted together an stuff but they seem to like stayed in the same period of the process for months now. Is this coz am no longer washinh with anything but water once a week?

an btw can normal washing up liquid be used to make me hair smell a bit betta?. It doesnt stink like a tramp on a train coverd in his own piss like but if ye go right up on it and right next to your nose it dont smell nice either.

You can use fairy liquid but I'd dilute it because it'll upset your scalp something rotten if you use it neat.

Jesus dude that's an interesting way that your typing there...but that's not the point. What exactly is the question? make them lock faster or smell nicer?

Lock faster is not going to happen so like for the millionmillionth time the answer is time and patience, 8-9 months isn't a very long time for dreadlocks, you're going to have to wait maybe double that time for them to have matured.

For the smell thing you might just try washing your hair more than once a week, dreads or not you can't expect hair to smell fresh after a week. I would have recommended using some regular shampoo once in a while if you washed more often, I wash mine every other day and use either a dandruff removing shampoo or a nice conditioner once a week, so by the time the weeks gone by my regular shampoo has washed out the residue containing shampoo. People here have some 'interesting' concoctions with teas and oils which you can try if that floats your boat, but I personally am not going to recommend washing up liquid because that can make your hair feel seriously shit if you use any substantial amount, and if you did use it your gonna have to rise ALOT and most likely wash out any fragrance it contained anyway.

of course your hair stinks... you cant just rinse with water once in a blue moon and expect it not to stink. Use some fucking shampoo, and use it more than once a week.

I use the DHHQ stuff once a week and I find it ok 0.o I used to get dandruff with it, but I realised I was using too much of the shampoo and probably wasn't washing it out properly. Now I dilute it in a sports bottle and pour it over my head, works wonders :)

Some shampoos work for some and not for others, so you just gotta find what your own hair likes. Washing with water works for some, and again not for others. Doesn't sound like it works for you dude, so try the DHHQ again if you still have it. pour a pennie's worth in a sports cap bottle, fill it up a third of the way with water, shake, then squirt on the top, back and sides of your scalp, and massaaage. That will stop them smelling too.

Otherwise, you could use a mixture of BiCarb and teatree, you'll have to get the proportions from somebody else who uses it, but that will clean and make your dreads feel fresh ^^

Now, progress wise, we need pics!! And the answer to all of the progress questions is time.

    Hope this helps ^^
