1930s actually. Also known as the Hungarian Suicide Song. I dug out a bit of info on it, its attracted some interesting urban myths, and started a thread about it on the Alchemy & Accident forum, should anyone wish to follow up on it.

 

Snow Angel by Ron Sexsmith is the best song to commit suicide to. In my experience.

 

This has got to be the same person.. sounds exactly the same

 

Since I'm the last person I want to hurt, I will name a song I'd kill someone to..
