More power to him, I say, but this took me by surprise. http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/10/09/nobel.peace.prize/index.html?eref=igoogle_cnn I'll celebrate once the shock wears off.
I don't know what to think about this. I just... don't know... :frown: No hard feelings against the president. I think he's doing all right, but really? The Nobel Peace Prize? Seems a little excessive at this point, doesn't it? I didn't know they awarded it for potential. :toetap05: Oh well, at least there's one country that doesn't hate us, I guess.
I read his e-mail response. He seemed humble and gracious but, yeah, I don't know that he's accomplished as much as a winner of such an honor should have done by now. But if, as he claims, he takes it as a call for action then I'll be happy. He's done right by us so far. For a US president, I mean.
That's odd (I think) considering what Venezuela President Hugo Chávez said about him in this speech: http://www.finalcall.com/media/news/ga2009-09-24_chavez.ram eace: IANABIAP (I am NOT a believer in any prophet.)
This pissed me off. He was nominated for the award 11 days into office. What the fuck did he do? I feel sorry for the people really making a difference who have been devoting their life to making positive changes in the world. This has really decreased the specialness and taken the honor of getting the award away when somebody can receive it for really doing nothing.
I agree with this...I have nothing against our President, and in fact, I do like what he has done so far, but (in my opinion) this award was given away haphazardly. And shame on them for doing so.
WTF, they must be awarding his for what they EXPECT him to accomplish in the future? I'd say they were 10 years premature and extremely optimistic.
