Need help with a Methcathionoe synth.

So, I'm, planning on doing an MCaT synth within the week. I am using purified hydrogen peroxide to oxidize it, as i read, from a number of sites, that it will work. Plus I have tried every possible way to find Kmno4, with no luck. Yes, I even tried Sears with no avail. So, I feel like I might be missing something somewhere, here's what i plan to do:

3 grams of psuedoephedrine will be extracted from cold pills. The slightly purified hydrogen peroxide is then added to the extracted psuedo., and is given a good 10 hrs to react fully.
Now, assuming that the MCAT will assume the form of a new liquid leyered on top of the hydrogen peroxide, it is filtered off and out in a different, clean, jar. The ph is then tested and muriatic acid is added as needed, one drop at a time.
The liquid is then placed in a pyrex dish and placed on a stove on very ow heat, and is evaporated. If the final product is too oily to shop and snort, a small amount of acetone is added, then evaporated, leaving just the crystals, which at this point should not be opily andy more. The crystals are then scraped off of the dish.

There. Does anyone see any problems with this, at all? Also, what form will the MCAT take on after the reaction? will it be a layer of liquid, or visible powder? Lastly, how much h2o2 would i need?

Kmno4 is in any university chem lab.
...ask around and see if any of your friends are in university and can help you.

or just sneak in. get a pair of goggles and scope things out. good trick is to say you are in a different lab and need some. just find the biggest foolio T.A. - they won't know what is going on. I have also walked into lab at odd hours and no one is in there guarding anything.

 

I've thought about this, but I have no clue where the chem lab is. besdies, i slready have the other materials.
In any case, sneaking into a university with intentions to steal a watched chemical doesn't seem like the best idea..

 

im a try and think here.. Kmno4 .swimming pool cleaner / a red crystalline powder that colours everything it touches, and is used to disinfect aquariums. It is also used widely in community swimming pools to disinfect ones feet before entering the pool..

find a pool city.. you should find kmno4..

 

Well, I will go ahead and try out my synth and let you all know how it went. If it doesn't work, I'll continue the never ending search for Kmno4.
