Just what the title said. I guess my main issue will be acclimatization, because I currently live (and always have) in Minnesota... :ack2:

your first summer is gonna be like living in hell, but you get used to it. most people here don't even really experience the heat, they go from air conditioned house, to air conditioned car, to air conditioned job, etc.

just drink lots of water and stay out of the sun and you will be fine.

other than that i find most places not all that different. i lived in chicago for awhile.

Make sure you have an income, money to rent or lease, a skill that is in demand fopr work. Phoenix, Tucson and Yuma are extremely and oppressively hot. Suggest you move further north....Prescott, Prescott Valley, Flagstaff area. The state is ultra conservative with 9 supremists groups spread about. If buying land, have money to sink a well in any region....it's expensive. Spend a month or so raoming AZ before you move here. Once here, if ya hate it, its hard to get out of. There are a few intentional communities; some are just scams, others overly restrictive, some just flop places where no one does anything and then there are the religious, wealthy.

Wait, spend at least 6 months roaming about here. That alone will tell ya what ya need to know.

I move here (mesa, AZ) from Michigan. I really didn't think the heat was that bad. I guess except for the electric bill. Just think about the 5 months of terrible leather and wool piercing cold vs. the 3 months of blistering heat that can easily be escaped by taking a trip to walmart. lol

    stay out of phoenix!
the town is devoid of culture, has an awful transportation system, and has the most fascist sheriff on the planet.

flagstaff is a SWEET town, you would love it there. it even snows every now and again! but if you can't do flag, try tucson, although it's hot there i liked it a lot when i lived there, it's a very hip town.

i cant say i agree with over 50% what folks have said about this state.. its a rad state, honestly. it is a desert but after that actualization everything else is rather sweet pickens.. so you are loaded with culture everywhere. I do not know how one could find it absent, being that there is Native patterns all over this joint not to mention artwork scattered everywhere (even the architecture is intriguing..) , encasing a rather interesting history, though at times it could appear negative.. the more north you venture, it certain becomes more distinctively sickk (sickk=wicked=way more than simple good).. Minn is really nice, you are making a big move.. but at the sport bar scene (if you drink) you'll find many sports fans from such a region.. but really, if you like being out and about and your tired of your jolly place there, hope over to the desert to scope it out. it's a large underground music scene, so be prepared. metal to freeform jazz of courpse the rap-tied stuff but other than a few artists being my friends, i have never been to a g-blunt show hah but yeah music is all over the place. look up major lingo! you'll immediately be thankful you decided to come here. seen them every show for 4 years. fuck yeah and blast onward. willcox to paige, its a glorious place. enjoy your stay and pass it to the left..

i just came up to mn from there... its different for sure. there are a lot of mormons\conservative Christians, a WHOLE lot of cool young people, but there is a deep ass drug problem down there. im dead serious people will deliver anything to your door there a-z haha. but the fucking cops are just rediculous, serious fucking nazis following Joe Arpaio aka Hitler.. seriously. the MCSO is so fucked up but they are the LAW.

do not get caught with drugs ever! ANY amount of pot is a felony and some cops down there are assholes.

the weather is nice during the winter\spring. ok during the fall. the summer is feels like HELL. your first summer down there you might sweat really bad. its like really cold winters up here you never really get used to walking out side when its 120 and then jumping in a car... god. watch out for hot steering wheels and hot leather seats.
and there are very nice thunderstorms down there.

its a interesting place fo sho
    very strange too
    there is noticeable racial tension
lots 'illegal alien' slavery or capitalism at its finest

I am thinking of moving over to Arizona or Tennessee, or at least spending a few months there. Would Phoenix be the best place?

I suppose if there is a "best place" it would be downtown phoenix.
They have First Friday where everybody just walks around and locals show off their art and play music on the streets.

That's usually where AZ's culture is.
Surviving in shitty apartments or trying not to get arrested for some fuckin weed. hah.

I have an opportunity to move to the Flagstaff area to establish a marijuana dispensary.

I am from the deep south, so I am sure living in AZ will be a culture shock. What is the racial/ethinic makeup? Natural features? Music/Art scene? Drug scene? Housing? Education? Job opportunities? etc.

    Any help is appreciated!

AZ is an awesome state. I have lived in Flagstaff and loved it! Best town I have ever lived in. I now live in Sierra Vista (horrible culture here, but Bisbee is nearby :) ).

If you like the outdoors at all then AZ is the place for you.

Also, Flagstaff has a wonderful music scene.

Oh, and I hear Tucson is a rad town, but I haven't spent much time there :p

Travel broadens the mind. (Trips do that, also. LOL)

Stay in the air conditioning, or the pool and use sun block and sunglasses.
By Halloween the weather gets normal. You'll love the Winter and your new lifestyle. Have a ball. Flagstaff has skiing.
What do you think of living in a place where if you want to see snow you have to drive to it?

    Scorpio Kenny :sunny:

    I'm in the same region.

You'll dig Flagstaff. It has seasons. It's high mountain, real tall Douglas firs, real small city. Rustic old downtown. Snow in the Winter. Skiing. A mountain log cabin kind of place. Elevation 6,910 ft.

Cool college town. Do look up on the web.

    Have a fun new life.
