Most of us know that already... But, with the previous resignations as well, it makes me wonder. What's going on in the White House, the government? I read about a 'purge' from a newspaper, and a post on this forum. Hm. Fishy. I suspect we will see where the government is going with this in the time ranging from spring to next fall. Don't take that as any factual information, it's just an assumption based on a 'gut feeling'. Could be wrong. Nevertheless, the government's current actions are a little suspicious, and should be watched with caution. What is everyone's opinion on what is going on pertaining to the recent resignation of four key members of government?
My take on it is this, bush is getting rid of anyone who disagrees with him.Powell has done that over the war. There will be many more to follow. Then,we'll see the books coming out describing what a despot he is.Or something to that effect.I'll wait for the movie(sick humor).
Powell's resignation does not bode well for US and Iraq. Powell is a strategic genious, and he seemed to be the only reasonable person in the administration to keep the whole Iraq fiasco from turning into a major catastropy. You see, Powell has fought wars in the Middle East. He knows that the people can be fearsome warriors, and he respects that. He knows that our technologically superior weapons do not guarantee victory, and he isn't going to want to send troops into what would be a meatgrinder. In fact, I strongly suspect that the storming of Falluja was a major factor in his decision to resign, or the reason he was forced to resign.
"Forced to resign",hmmmmm. He has been somewhat of a thorn in bushs side.He does have war experience on a personal level(vietnam),where as bush ain't got it.He was originally against the war too.Now rice is going to take over. Amatuers running a war,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sound familiar?
1. Powell has said over a year 1/2 ago that he probably wouldn't serve more then 1 year. 2. The president picks his these people with simple majority vote in the senate, so of course all of the people are basicaly going to agree with the president.
Well, maybe it is a purge, maybe Bush is preparing for a major escalation of the war. I mean, he certainly seems to be trying hard enough to incite the Iraqis to fight (storming Falluja, slaughtering innocent civilians). I mean, what was the liberal count of civilian causalities? I've seen one report from a respectable British journal say up to 250,000. Perhaps the recent study, that stated 100,000 civilian deaths is more reasonable. But think about it, that's 100,000 people's families who are very pissed, and will take up arms. I mean, the government seems to be trying its hardest to incite a war, so that they can continue to profit from it at the expense of the soldiers lives. Hell, I hope they bring back the draft, so that it will light a fire under the apathetic asses of my generation, the so called Generation X or whatever. Maybe then those stupid fucking kids will give a shit, instead of hanging out at the mall and drinking Starbucks.
I might agree with you there, but ashcroft did everything but disagree with the Bush Administration's policies, I have no idea why he quit, and let's not forget, Powell is not as great as everyone says he is, he is more than willing to cover up government lies, just like he did during his "investigation" into the Mai Lai massacre where he covered up and bailed out his army buddies. Peace and Love, Dan
Most of the people are resigning because they are tired, overworked and want to resume a semi normal life. (thats what the radio told me this morning atleast.)
Well man, generally speaking, of course, most people in positions of power are very corrupted by that power. And of course we do not have the moral and strong leaders in America. The majority of them are of the cowardly/greedy type. Whats sad is that the average sheep does not feel disgust towards hypocrisy, because they are just too blind. But, what can you do, eh? Ignorant people live ignorant and unhappy lives, generally. Or at least free from their ignorance, they could enjoy much more happiness.
Wow you must have some sort of gift to be able to tell if someone is a bad person just by the way they look.
wouldnt it be great if we had that ability ? then everyone would have to be genuinely honest in this world for fear of being mistrusted by everyone it would pretty much solve all the worl's problems, almost
