hey daisymelan, i am the creator of this thread. i forgot my password from that old account. i never did buy that property, instead im a working stiff. i seem to be 'stuck'. if i were to buy a piece of property in nova scottia i would probably end up breaking up with my long term girlfriend, and leaving all my friends behind.. not to mention taking a large finacial risk of buying land and maintaining it. but still, it seems to be a dream embeded in me. i still look occasionally on mls.ca to see if there are any bargains to persuade me to leave this style of life behind.
for example look at this piece of land / house for $18,000

    General Description
6 bedroom home located on a reported 3.76 Hectares of land!Located minutes from all Doaktown Amenities. With some elbow-grease and a little TLC, you’ll find lots of opportunity to add your own style to this home. Call Joe for your chance to view! (Please Note: Buyer(s) to verify all measurements)
It would be pretty sweet life to grow all your own food. It seems like I would have more time to read and do other low key activities. But, who knows? The grass may just seem greener.

    Hey there!

Thanks for responding. NB is where we want to be settled. Over the next 20 years we will be looking for land to develop on our own and live out our existence. I'm always on mls too searching out the good deals. ;) I'm a bit of an addict in that way. I think the perfect solution would be to have a friend that would sever their land and sell us a piece. But we'll see what teh future holds. =)

This is my dream and as soon as we can do it, that is how we will spend our days. Developing our land and growing our own food is something that we would love to be doing. I always see it as what I want to do in retirement, but why wait until then?

you pretty much just need to go in there with money to begin with. but, you don't need to much if you get a bunch of people to pitch in. you can build a ghetto hut on a bunch of land to farm on for under $10,000. so if you got like 6 people thats like 2 paychecks each.
how about this spot. its an old church that was converted to a boarding house with 10 rooms. pretty fucking sweet digs for a commune i might say! its 6000sq ft on 3.5 acres of land (more then enough to farm on) and has 10 bedrooms and a common area and bathroom for $20,000. im from vancouver and you cant even find a one bedroom for 1/10 that.

    General Description
This former church is located in Whites Brook, about 8km from Kedgwick. Renovations were made to use the building as a rooming house. There are bedrooms, bathroom and common areas on the main floor, kitchen and meeting area in the basement and the top floor was used for storage. Mostly thermo windows. This property is sold As Is.
