You do. I'm on suboxone myself. I didn't know anything about it. Luckily, the first doctor I talked to about my problem. He instantly remembered me because he had talked to me one night when I overdosed on DXM. So I told him my problem I was having with opiates and he told me about suboxone. So I figured, what the hell? He gave me the prescription in exchange that I wore a necklace and came to a drug group on thursdays. I now get one every thursday. Get it filled. and i'm good. If you have problems with opiates, be honest, but if not. You don't need suboxone. Don't try to get something just to be getting the high. Because before you get it. You will have to detox a couple of days until your in withdrawals. But I mean.. If you think its going to help. It will. Be do understand you can't take any other drugs once your on it.. Weed is even questionable. But hell I smoke weed anyway.. but thats my choice.. and it hasn't had any bad side effects.

Yes what others have said is right. Doctors need a special license to be able to prescribe suboxone, like all sorts of tests they have to take b/c it is controlled by the DEA so there are lots of regulations they have to follow as well. All you need to do is just be honest, this is what suboxone is for, it is used to treat opiate addicts from wanting, doing, and withdrawing from opiates. I was on subs for about 7mo. and thats what I did, only problem you might have is finding a doc. close, it was a 3 hr drive for me. And another thing if your insurance won't cover this (mine did the first few visits then it stopped) then it is gonna get expensive for you, like 120-180$ just for the visit then somewhere around 7$ a pill from the pharm. Good luck getting off the opiates man.

docs need to be authorized for subbies-----and if he is just tell him your having a problem with opiates and need help to quit---if hes authrized for it shouldnt have a problem but you need your story straight cas he'll ask about your pill intake and you need to be able to tell him---im taking 80 mgs a day or whatever------careful with those Peace

HippiexChild--what do you mean ---he made you wear a necklace?

First you need to find out if your insurance is going to cover it, because Suboxone costs a fuckload if not. Secondly, like said already, you need to find a Suboxone doctor. There is no real sure fire way to get prescribed it...all you need to do is tell the doctor you are addicted to opiates, and you don't want to go on Methadone, and that you have heard Suboxone works wonders. It's really not difficult.

I have to wear a necklace to make sure people know if I get into a wreck or get knocked unconcious and the doctors have to cut me open and do surgery cause regular pain medicine won't work on me.

It will work, you just have to take more of it in order to have relief. But having the necklace is very beneficial because it is easier to prove that you are on suboxone and do indeed need stronger pain meds.

find a sub doc in your area, if you live in a major city youll have lots of options. then find out if they accept you insurance make an appointment, and go tell em whats up. its not hard at all, i dont know why people ask what they should tell their doctor. its not like asking a doc for dillies, i mean theyre prescribing it to you because you abuse heroin or pills, so be open and honest about it, when i got on sobs, i told the doctor that i was shooting about a gram or more of H a day. it was that easy

Thanks for the input. I already know a local doc who accepts my insurance that curremtly DOES perscribe SUB.

The thing is ,its already the same doc that I get my (meds, Oxy's & Oxycodone) from. I only want the subs for the week (or so) that I run out of my Opiates to take them to carry me until my refills.I have bben scorin them on the steert (subs) & the past 4 months, I take 1 week OFF the O.C.'S & Oxys & take the SUB'S. & This has worked WELL for me,Then I wait an extra 2 days until I start my opiate cycle of my MEDS again to "flush out" the Subs & I find my tolerance comes down a bit. This HAS BEEN WORKIN, I just want my own script of Subbies SO I do not have to Buy $ on the street & spend extra cash & RUN ANY RISK, I am VERY low profile & minimize any & all risks about buyin & sellin ANY PILLS. I got a job & things to hang onto to.Im a careful cat & this is a tricky game & a serious one at that.

Thanks to those who gave up straight info.Peace.

Your definately going to get worse if you take suboxone just to take away the withdrawals and then you go back to taking pain meds. Just drop the pain meds, then start taking sub. You'll be fine then.

I think you missed the point. He doesn't want to stop taking them. He wants to have them for WD so he can make it by while droppin his tolerance a little bit. Why are you in all of the opiate forums tryin to get us to stop and take subs? I abuse but i have a system of control and i am perfectly happy.:D

Everyone thinks they can control pain pill abuse. If thats the case, Stop today, and never take them again if you got it all under control.

I'm looking to be an addiction psychitrist one day so i'm just trying help people... ha.

All i'm saying is, Taking suboxone, stopping then taking pain pills will only make you want more. And your tolerance will be sky high. So when you actually need to take subs, they won't be as effective if you do.. :[

btw love me my opiates but cant do em more than 3 days or ill get dope sick careful with that shit--its strong"medicine" hahahahaha

be prepared Cold Turkeys--in my day done detoxes--price to pay for all that feeling good

Yeah, no doctor would ever give you Subs for the days that you run short on your meds. First of all, you will get kicked out for even telling him you are running short on meds. Secondly, he isn't going to prescribe pain meds, and then give you a script for a medication to get you OFF of the pain meds, all at the same time. That would be moronic.

On top of that, I am sure your insurance would have a problem with you getting Subs AND Pain pills at the same time. It just won't work, and you most likely get dropped by your doctor.

I personally think Methadone is a much better short term drug for getting through the days when you run out. With subs you have to wait until you are in full blown WD's to take them, and then you have to wait such a long time for the sub to leave your system before your prescribed meds will even have an effect on you again.

You might as well be saying you want crack. Ha. Pain pills are just as addictive.
