I've too just began to get into spray paint as a medium. There are definately different tips available that grafitti artists use to make thin lines or fat lines. There are caligraphy caps that can go from thin to thick also. But even a thin tip isn't gonna give a super fine line. There is definately techniques that can be used to get better results. Like putting down a black line , then slowly working towards to line from either one or both sides to narrow it down to a thin sliver. Try picking up or at least looking thru some books on grafitti technique. There are many. Also try finding some popular grafitti spots and meet other writers. I was never into grafitti but I was into large murals so Ive started doing grafitti now also. Alot of artists have been more than helpful. They ve kicked me down tips. And helped instuct me on proper technique. Put down a base that will be the main color of your work. Then go over that with black to get lines where needed. Then go back in and touch up or add more colors. Hope that makes sense. Also avoid cheap paint. It runs and doesn't spray evenly. You will regret it. They sell specail brands for Graf. Montana black is supposed to work really well but can get expensive. As can all paint. I use rustolium now and have good results. Try and figure out ways to steal cans here and there because it is addicting. Paint goes fast. You'll go thru 5 cans for a 5'X8 wall easily and you'll need to do a few peices for practice before you do anything decent. Can control is an art of it's own. I'm waiting to borrow an airbrush from someone and can't wait to get that down.
word gonna have to go get some mags most of the spots around here are all cleaned up. im just gonna spray my basement walls till i got the basics down than work on the walls in my bed room.
Probably not what you're talking about but I saw an amazing artist on the streets of Rome using only spray paint and crumpled newspapers to create beautiful and colorful (as well as fairly detailed) paintings.
I seen a guy use "tape" in 2 lines , then s[rsyed down the middle for a nice clean, straight line,he used the tape in alot of ways as a "border" sort of...I hope this helps.... My website: www.canvasandclothcreations.com
You use the cans, different tips can help. If you are referring to making crips lines in a piece, then you have to learn a bit about it first. When painting with cans, it is best to lay down core colors first, then borders and what not last. It really helps to cut lined and keep them crisp.
It's all in the technique. Of course, it'll be much harder to paint something like what's in my sig using dollar paint and stock caps but if you practice with lower quality products it really helps when using higher quality ones. And yes fills come first and outlines later if you're trying to keep it clean. Unless of course you're some kind of aerosol god, then all I can say is kudos to you, hombre. Just try to find a brand of paint you're comfortable with and can afford and some caps that you like. Or you could follow a hardcore writers path and rack whatever paint and caps you can. Just don't get caught. =]
im hoping some thing fall into place and probaly gonna order some good paint and a assortment of nozzles with in the next few days. that piece is sick in your sig is that your work?
