We had a wonderful trip to Amsterdam. We saw all the old places, did tons of fun things, it was too short and we can't wait to go again. However, Amsterdam looked like it had been roughed up. There was far more graffitti than I remembered, trash on the ground, cobblestones ripped up and other signs of rough use. It was like seeing an old lover who had come on hard times. In the past we have gone in May and maybe things are cleaner then than after the summer. Perhaps. We stayed at the Greenhouse Effect, Turkish Delight room. It was a kinda dingy RLD room but really cool (the closet shower was a riot). Those two flights of steep stairs make you think about coming and going. Anyway, it was great and the staff were just wonderful. They were there when we arrived at 6AM and helped us up to the room. And the discount beers were huge. We had a great time. Wish we weren't back in reality. BTW, everyone over there thinks Bush sucks too.
