Well, even at 26 years old, I still get a pimple or two when my period is due, but I've found that the thing that works best for me is Clean & Clear facial wash and the moisterizing lotion. It seems to help. Also, if I do get an annoying very obvious pimple, I swear by using my babies' Desitin bum cream. I just dab a little on it, and it seems to take the redness away fast and clear things up.

I have extremely sensitive skin, so these are the only things that have worked for me, without causing more break-outs. I can't use too many skin care products without reactions unfortunately.

    Good luck.

While growing up I would only get 1 or 2 on my chin or beside corner of my mouth a few times a year. Since getting married & having kids I get alot more...every week I have a few now. I've read somewhere that a diet with lots of junk food or greasy food will produce zits. While growing up neither of those were allowed so maybe there's something to it.

I'm a blackhead girl myself... lol I get almost no whiteheads, which is good, but blackheads are damn annoying. Anyway, I use a cleanser called Cetaphil, which you can use with or without water, and as many times throughout the day as you like. At night I use a prescription topical cream called Differin gel - it's just for the individual pimples themselves, it helps the redness and dramatically shrinks them.

When I was younger, I always used witch hazel as an astringent and washed my face with Noxema.
As I get older, I find that if I don't use some type of moisturizer every day, I get breakouts. Any way, the best moisturizer I have come across is Kiss My Face Olive & Aloe. It's really light and not greasy at all.

    Diet actually doesn't effect acne.

Agreed. Neutrogena is shit. And no matter how confident you are in your body image, pimples ARE fucking annoying.

    This is what I recommend:
-Clean and Clear 10% benzoil (how do you spell it?) peroxide face wash (it's in a purple squishy container) - wash with warm, not hot, water.
-their 10% (same stuff) vanishing cream works well for bad ones at night.
    -drinking lots of water

The combination really cleared me up.

I get breakouts once and while and find that although neutrogenas soaps and facewashes are shit they do make a great cream called On-the-spot, i use that, drink loads of water and once a week scrub my face with baking soda mixed with a bit of water. Its the best exfoliant and cleanser.

I never really had too much acne, as a teenager... But, as an adult, yah... And I am prone to cystic acne, not just little pimples...

My skin needs change, with my environment... Pollution, weather, stress levels, all change my skin...

Currently, I must do this, once a day. First I use Dove Nutrium (in the shower) with a soft washcloth. After I get out of the shower, I use Witch Hazel, then Clearasil Maximum Strength ointment, then Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion (in that order). I don't wash my face at night (even if I wear makeup), because it's too much. All of that is done in the morning. This has been keeping my skin relatively clear, for a few months now.

I can't use anything with Salicylic (sp?) acid, it just makes it worse. And anything overly drying will cause me to break out, too. As will overly exfoliating. I use the washcloth, gently, once a day...

    Actually it does :p

Not your entire diet, but little things can make you break out even more

For me, eating chips would really mess it up. It's almost all cleared up though since i went on accutane (400 dollars for one freaking prescription! we switched to the generic brand and it was $10!!) I've had it pretty bad :(

Go look at Neutrogena's active ingredient_ slaycitic acid? Aprin.
MUUUUUUUUUCh cheaper and more effective. alternate days , at least. I'm a weekly (with my acne and grey hairs)

do you smoke out of a bong?

that's not meant to be offensive, seriously. hear me out...

you said you have pimples above your lips. if you frequently smoke out of bongs, you're making an air-tight suction and are pulling lots of thick smoke into the pores around your mouth. thus, you're likely to get pimples and blackheads around your mouth and lips. plus, every time you put your mouth on the end of the tube, you're leaving oils on it... along with the oils of everyone else in your smoking circle. so when you're rippin', you're also smushing a ton of excess facial oil around your mouth. i know a guy with really sensitive skin who has a problem with this... i had never heard of or thought about this before i met him, so i figured a lot of others haven't, either.

i don't know if you smoke or not, so i hope you don't take offense to my comment. i just figured i'd suggest it.

my brother and my old roomie were all about this stuff called "proactive." i've borrowed it before, and it works. i'm not sure where you get it, or if it's pricey. i know it's not a prescription, at least. unfortunately, i haven't borrowed it enough to know more about it. i think it's a set of three bottles... refresh, renew and repair, maybe? i forget. something to that extent.

I tried ProActive and it only worked a little bit for me. It seems like I have to change my acne-fighting routine every few months or something. As of right now, that routine is washing with Dove bar soap for sensitive skin, then wiping with this certain astringent but I forgot the name (other astringents make me break out worse) , and then Kiss My Face Alpha and Aloe moisturizing lotion if it's going to be a day where my skin is dry. I also have problems with cystic acne and the big red inflamed ones. For the big red ones, I use PersaGel10 but I don't like it that much, On-The-Spot seems to work better. For the cystic acne, nothing really seems to help, although lately I could swear the moisturizing lotion does.
