I posted on the COmmunal Living, since I'm mostly interested in this as an experiment in intentional community but any interest in a gardenshare in Dallas, TX? I've got space for a very large garden + pasture, 20 minutes from downtown. :)

Good Luck with your venture, I hope you find some ppl to go in with. It's a little late in the season to start a garden in north texas, even the fall garden is ready to harvest right now.
Tho, now is a good time to make ready for Spring Planting, cultivating the soil, enriching it with organic matter and plowing it under a few times a month, esp after a hard rain, when the soil can be worked.
This time of yr is when you gather seeds for spring. The weather is turning colder and the sun is moving to china, so the earth will not yeild the heat that is required to germinate, unless of course you have a greenhouse.

    Blessings

It's defitely too late for this year, but I'm hoping to get some folks in for next year - and it's easier to plan if I have an idea of numbers. :)

How cold is it in Dallas? It's been a few years since I was in that area... It seems to me that there should be plenty that you can plant now...
Things like garlic, onions, strawberries, turnip & mustard... I'm certainly still planting cool season goodies in middle GA.

Have you been to the community north of you with all the ferrous-cement dome homes? I can't remember the name off-hand, something with eagle in the name, maybe?

Do you still have rainbow potluck every month? I would totally imagine that you could find plenty of people interested in gardening... Dallas is a big place...

Unfortunately, I've had bad experiences with community, there's a lot of people who make promises Wimpy style... "I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today", but Tuesday never comes.
