Ok lets just say someone was hiding a lot of pot in there house. I know in CT prity much everybody gets off for first offence of less than a quarter pound. How about a full pound? or 1-10 pounds? Anybody ever had an expirience with getting caught with that much? Penalties? jail time?
nobody? George Jung was caught with 660 pounds and only served 2 years in jail, but that was in the 70's haha
ur good weed isnt shit if it was something a little more illegal i would advise to keep most of it in a good spot not on your own property so you cant get in trouble
all the information you need at one reliable source: NORML for CT, possession of more than 4 ounces the first time is a felony with up to 5 years jail time and 2000$ fine. second offense of >4 ounces is 10 years and 5000$ fine.
i clicked this thread because i thought he was busted for big knockers...Busted with large mounds?!?! and they are still tryin to nab me even though i am retired from the actual game
It also says if your caught with a useable amount its a $1000 fine and 1 year in prison, my buddy got caught with 1 ounce and was in and out of the police station within the hour. No bail, no jail time, 25 hours of community service. So i dont think these records are true? I know of another lady that saw no jail time on her second offence....this all being in CT.
where i'm from you'll get a verbal warning and the cops will just take your weed. Don't you just love the u.s?
you should notice that those penalties are the maximum allowed by law, not necessarily what you're receive if you cooperate properly.
haha that did sound kind of funny now that i've gone back and re-read it. one hit too many i suppose. :cheers2: the point i was trying to make was simply that if you're already busted, then it's often best to just be nice with the cops rather than give them unnecessary shit as they'll be much less likely to recommend the maximum punishment the law allows.
Recommend to who? The prosecution? Who cares, the prosecution doesn't determine that, a judge does. You get a trial and are innocent till proven guilty. Keep quiet, and get a lawyer, that is the only way you can help yourself after you are busted. It's better to just shut your mouth than to be "nice with the cops".
How do you know who the best one? The cheapest lawyer is to much for most of us. My lawyer cost $500 an hour. Luckily I didn't have to take it to trial. I would be poor. What the majority of us want is the ability to plead down, and have all of our options laid out in front of us. Nobody caught with large amounts should plead not guilty unless they really are. Thats just asking to screw yourself.
shutting your mouth is being nice to cops. that's exactly what i'm saying. congrats for arguing nothing. bottom line, as anyone with basic common sense would agree, is that a judge will never look highly on a defendant, with or without a lawyer, who resisted arrest and/or verbally abused the arresting officer (i.e. not being 'nice').
