i liked the part with that optical illusion that would work on sober people but not schizophrenics and people tripping.

This special was pretty disappointing, the first bit was pretty interesting, about how LSD helps to treat cluster headaches. But the rest was just like:

"LSD can either be a blissful trip to heaven, or diving into the dark depths of HELL!"

Not much actual medical data, more about how people felt about the effects it has on the psyche. It didn't represent lucy in a totally negative light, but it still was more focused on the fact that you can have either a good trip or a bad trip. Was expecting a little more from National Geographic.

    Why?
Thats the truth and reality with psychedelics. Lots of people have bad experiences with LSD, I read about them in this very forum. You were expecting a little more from National Geographic than the truth?
The biggest difference I see is that those who really understand and appreciate psychedelics learn as much or more from the bad trips as they do from the good.

You have to be honest about both the negative and positive aspects of any drug or you are just as wrong and misinformed as those who are opposed to drug use and support the war on drugs.

The only way for any of this shit to be settled is for BOTH SIDES of the debate to be honest about drugs.

only aloud 1000 doses a year. That also sucks. How about the British army guys rolling around on the ground laughing their as**s off. Suppose to be fighting. Now that would be a war, everyone tripping their faces off! I get lost walking around festival camping at night. So I could not imagine being in some jungle.
I found it not surprizing that when they were test dosing people,
most bad trips were in a hospital type setting. I would never want to be in a sterile hospital setting either.

Why do I get the impression that a lot of you just aren't seeing the bigger picture.
LSD proved to be a very promising substance in early research. Then because of people indiscriminately using and abusing it, it became demonized in the eyes of the public and ALL research was stopped.

Now after almost 40 years they are finally starting to allow research with it again. My god people that is fucking huge. Don't you understand what that means ?
If it can be proven beyond any question that LSD does have valid clinical medicinal applications then ultimately it will have to be re-scheduled according to the current drug laws in the U.S. The same holds true for marijuana.

Complaining because the main researcher can only produce 1000 doses a year AT THIS TIME for research is a very shortsighted way of looking at it.
Do you think they should be making it and passing it out at festivals?
It is that mentality that led to it being declared illegal in the first place.
Or complaining about the fact they are investigating types of LSD that will provide the benefits such as relieving cluster headaches without the hallucinogenic effects is also naive and short sided.
These issues regarding these substances are a lot more important than whether or not you can trip next weekend.

At least it's a start, that should be cause enough for rejoicing.
Hopefully it will ultimately lead to an era when these substances are allowed and used for personal growth and exploration.

But I guarantee you, if remarks such as are being made in this thread are voiced loudly it will only hinder the furtherance of this work.
The opponents would stand up and say 'See all these people want is it to be easier to get it for partying" and they wouldn't be far from the truth.

Really an honest non-biased appraisal of drugs and their usage HAS to be done by BOTH proponents and opponents if any progress is to be made.

I thought it was a great show.I am very happy that it is seriously being taken as a possible medication for different ailments. The show will help bring it into the light of the scientific and medicinal communities,a real step in the right direction.:cheers2:
