Which event had a greater psychological impact on you?
The 9/11 terrorist attack or the Financial Meltdown of Oct 2008?

I'm mainly interested in the mental effect the event had on you and not the consequences after the event such as losing your job or joining the military to fight etc.

911 for me.It seemed dreamlike--as if it couldn't possibly be happening.Financial meltdowns come and go and wasn't that much of a shock to me ,considering the "leaders" we have had over the past 8 years.

honestly, neither has affected me to any great extent. in september of 2001, i was 13. not really up on global events and what not... i was more concerned about who i was going to the dance with or if i could go hang out with my friend on the weekend.

the 'financial meltdown' did not affect me because i have zero ties to the stockmarket... no 401k or pension plan or whatever. all last year i was working construction (building high-end boat docks) and being paid in cash. funny thing about rich people (and by rich, i don't mean the neighbour down the street with a bmw and a ridiculous house payment... omre like alan jackson and michael mcdonald and dave ramsey kinda folks) is they didn't really seem to give a shit about any of this stuff. the only way it had any effect on me was anger at the bailouts for the banks and automotive industry.

9-11-2001 for sure. No need to explain why.

The ''Financial Meltdown of 2008'' didn't really effect me - as (maybe) it did others.

The financial meltdown was closer to home, personally. So I suppose that's my answer.

9/11 shook me up in an entirely different way.

financial meltdown due to it putting my dad out of a job and me having such a hard time just finding a part time job, you don't realize how nice a steady job is until you have no income whatsoever. really really shitty. it will all work out though, and we will look at it as more of an event that helped us grow and learn.
