yesterday (friday) i got my hair 'dreadlocked' by this black girl. she used an assload of wax and did a little bit of backcombing and now my hair is absolutley disgusting- everytime i touch it its greasy. ive looked at pictures of other peoples new dreads from blogs and such and found nothing that looks even remotley close to mine so my question is- WHAT DO I DO?!
should i start over or will a good washing do the trick?
backcombing? im lost and need answers please help hippie people

I just got my first dreads on Wednesday, and they used wax. I washed them with a 6 to 1 ratio of Dr Brommers, and it got rid of most of the residue. I did have to backcomb some of them again, but it was well worth it to get rid of the wax.

I say wash all the wax out, like really scrub every drop of the shit out, then if you feel newly backcombed dreads arent for you, comb out, and twist and rip, or go neglect.

melt it out if you can't get it all out with soap. get super hot water and dip the waxy things in there, squeeze the wax out.

    ya dood start over
just let your hair tangle naturally
after it starts just palmroll them up
rip em apart if they want to clump together
in 12-18 months youll have nice healthy natural dreads

BE PATIENT its gonna be messy for awhile, theres no such thing as instant dreads

Try a deep cleanse... it will probably loosen your dreads up like mad but don't worry about it. One deep cleanse de-waxed mine pretty good, and I'd do another like a week later. I brew up a ton of herbs to make a dark tea (rosemary, peppermint, chamomile, and a few others), then I add ACV and baking soda. Soak and rinse for a long time, then wrap them in a towel or in a shower cap or something for like 20 mins, then rinse em off real nice-like.

After just leave 'em to do their own thing. I do a bit of "root rubbing" but it is unnecessary.

You did get ripped off, but don't give up... cutting dreads is evil... EVIL!!!:reddevil:
