she stole all of my writings and claimed them to be her own. how disgusting. saddens me when you work so hard on something and someone copys and paste them as their own. Its like, an artist selling there art an auction, someone taking it home, putting their name on the work and just claiming that they painted it and the artist finding out. anyone ever experience this total bummer?

Well, if she hasn't credited the artist I can see why he'd be a bit miffed...I'm thinking that she's more naive than malicious though.

    if that is the case,

she wrote at the end "love danielle"
    at the end of them.

    :( still not right.
that's someone's work.. they put their heart into it for someone to claim it. that's never a good feeling.

No I'm with you on that one. I saw my work plastered all over the internet as an advertising campaign once....definitely my work, just changed the colour slightly. I was gutted, that was my idea and some slimey lazy little moaf had stolen it off a graffiti site which I had a gallery on.They could've offered me something for it couldn't they...I plod on skint as ever, they get richer from stealing others work. Not cool.

Can't find the advertisement...Monsterjobs it was (How about giving me a job as your graphic advertiser instead of stealing my shit!)

I know how awful this feels. :( I'm so sorry you had to go through this.

If you don't mind.. I'll share a story of what happened to me.. It was quite awful.

When I was younger, we had a class that made us all write a poem for a contest. No matter what, our poems would be sent into a contest to be published in a book.

A "friend", I'll call her Sara, of mine asked if she could read some of my work to "inspire" her. I said that was fine with me..

When we got the books I was sitting at my friend Melissa's house. She read Sara's poem, who was chosen as the "top" poem out of ALL the poems from all the schools who entered..

She said "You have to read this.. I had no idea Sara could write. And you know what..? It sounds REALLY familiar.."

So I turn right to the page.. and there it is... MY POEM. With her name on it.

I felt like I could die. It was the most horrible feeling.

Like I said, I was young at the time, so I immediately went home, sobbing of course, and my mom called my teacher. She wanted proof it was mine of course.. and how was I to do that?

Well. THANK GOD I was a member of a website where I published a lot of my poems online. I had put this poem online several months before this contest and it was dated and everything.. and that was proof enough.

Nothing could be done.. but the huge sign at school that said "Congratulations Sara" was taken down and the party our class was throwing her was canceled, she had to write me an apology, and I believe she got detention or something.. but nothing really made it better.

I still have the stupid book with her stupid poem.

Yes, the poem I entered made it in the book too.. just didn't win any awards. Figures!

Wonder what would have happened had we entered the same poem. Hmph.

Just want you to know your not alone.. I completely share your pain and I know how awful it is!!

I've heard many times that whatever you create yourself is automatically copyrighted. If you google information for copyright laws and rules and whatnot I think you'll find that generally, if someone steals or copies something you have created, then its illegal. I'm not entirely sure though. :p
