I just checked Dollar General's website. Unfortunately, there are NO stores here in California. :( The closest would be to go to Arizona. If we had them out here, I'd be a regular [barefoot] customer! :D The closest thing we have are the 99 Cent Only stores and Dollar Tree, but I've never tried going to either of those places barefoot---yet. ;)

That sucks! I would have thought cali of all places would have dollar general. Anyways, if you ever make it to a place where there is a dollar general, you have to try it out. the thing i like about them is that they tend to be in small town/cities, and i find smaller towns/city stores dont make as big of a deal over bare feet. i know ive seen more barefoot shoppers in smaller towns, so maybe they are more used to it. anyhow, i'm off to enjoy the warm weather with some barefootin! take care.

    Today, went barefoot most places.
From home to a restaurant, my office, barbershop, tobacconist, Wal-Mart...no troubles at all. The lady who cut my hair even said she thought that was neat and thought people should go barefoot more.

I tried a truck stop for the first time today. got a long stare, and one person gave me a nice greeting.

i'm finishing my 7th day of being almost completely barefoot. i have been on vacation this week. i stayed home and vegged, ran errands, when to the supermarket, when to my neighborhood bar, laundry mat. my biggest accomplishment was going to "america's best" on saturday to have my eyes examined and get new glasses. i hade my flips with me but at the last second i decided to enter barefoot. i was nervious but, the staff nor the doctor did not care. one of the clerks made a comment and i told her i hated shoes and usually only wore them while working.

Been trapped in shoes at work most of the day, so I took a nice walk around the block when I got home, barefoot (and freeballing). Soles are nice and dirty-black now. :)

The only place I wear shoes are places that require shoes and class. Other than that I prefer going barefoot. I grew up beachside so it always felt natural for me to go without shoes.

After large regions in the US being in the grasp of cold air from the north, it's now Germany being in the wake of cold air from the north - which can happen every now and then in fall.

Today was the first morning I had frost nibbling on my bare toes (air temperatures of 0°C/32F - most likely a bit lower on the ground), as I went to work, walking to the tram stop, and then changing from tram to bus - the change included approximately 5 minutes of standing at a bus stop. Even though it was sunny, the sun hadn't risen enough to warm up the ground significantly, so I had to clench and wiggle my toes to keep them alive and the circulation going. After getting off the bus near the office building where I work (near meaning a 5-minute walk away), I greatly enjoyed the stimulation of my bare soles by different sorts of concrete used on the sidewalk.

Since the place I work is in an industrial region, the sidewalks are not as nicely laid out in even and smooth tiles, but rather consist of concrete strips next to the road, which are often patched up, in caswe potholes appear. Thus, the surfaces vary from smooth to rough and pebbly. That variation provided a nice stimulant for my bare soles, no matter the temperature. Before entering the buidling, I put on my office shoes (the closed-toed ones in this weather), enjoying the tingling of very alive feet.

All the time, my toes were glowing brightly pink, signalling that the circulation was still up and running. At present, I am sitting in the office, yearning for the moment my shift is over, so that I can kick off the shoes and enjoy the coolness of the ground on my way home. Since the weather is still bright and sunny, I expect the pavement to have warmed up a little by the time I leave the office and head home.

    Wiggling a coldfooter's toes,

    ~*Ganesha*~

yesterday was 60+ degrees in late october, I had to take advantage of that. I had that first-time barefooter anxiety because it's been a couple weeks since I have gone barefoot in public. I sat in the wal mart parking lot for about 10 min. before I worked up the courage to go in. sadly, i fear that was the end of this season of barefooting. can't wait for next april!!

Well I spoke too soon. Today was in the 60s again. I saw one barefooter on campus, but I am too chicken to go barefoot on my campus. I did get a positive/shocked comment from a lady. she exclaimed Youre barefoot!! I told her that I was enjoying the last bit of time that I could go barefoot until winter. As I walked past her outside she smiled at me and told me to have a great day.

I'm loving this fall weather! it was 70 here today, and I got another comment. They said 'It's warm enough to go barefoot?!'. I told him I was going to enjoy 70 degree october days as much as possible. maybe i'll try target for the first time ever(?) tomorrow.

Here it was in the 30's (~0 deg C) with light rain/snow all day yesterday. I grudgingly put on sneakers to go out, but they felt good all things considered. I did get in some late-season barefoot outings on Tuesday. It was in the low 50's (~10 C). The coolness felt good, but I was getting a few awkward looks. That won't stop me at those temps, but even the 50 deg days are going to be fewer over the coming months. It's supposed to warm up a bit over the weekend. :)

I'll also be anxious to hear how things went at Target. I had one bad experience at a Target, but that was over a year ago and I've since gone back barefoot to that same store and several other locations without incident. I expect you'll be fine. You've got a support group in this forum!:)

well, I jinxed my target barefooting for today! it is raining and COLD here today. Saturday is supposed to be sunny and 55, and usually that means it gets into the low 60's. If so, I will try at target and let everyone know how it went. I have always heard that target is MUCH more barefoot friendly than walmart is.

I was in WalMart last Friday. It was about 7:45am and the store was not busy at all. I was in shorts and barefoot so my unshod feet were fairly conspicuous. I walked by the greeter (a 60ish black woman) and said "good morning" to her. She looked at me, noticed I was barefoot (I could tell by the look of surprise that registered on her face) and simply said "good morning" in return. While shopping I passed at least six employees and no one said a word.

It was cool today, but after spending the day working in my home office I had to get out. I hopped in my car barefoot and went for a quick drive. My only stop was at an ATM. Walking up, the sun felt pretty good, but I could tell that if it was overcast I'd be freezing. I walked across the parking lot to the ATM. As I stood there in shorts, a sweatshirt, and barefoot, a woman came up behind me. She never said anything, but she was wearing jeans, sneakers, and a heavy coat.

    Ugghhhh! Winter!!!
