Okay, ever since it was launched a few months ago, I have been in contact with the webmaster of what is now my favorite web site. He and I think almost exactly the same so, not surprisingly, the two of us have become good friends.

Anyway, he has asked me to help him launch his new program which is intended to really, actually, and truly get the pendulum swinging back in the right direction regarding this whole "going barefoot" thing.

    His solution?

    The Barefoot License!

The way it works is that you apply for the License (which costs $125.00, so you really have to be serious about it), and in so doing you permanently certify that you accept all responsibility and refuse to sue any business that you are visiting in your bare feet if you get injured.

And he has also created a new list of barefoot-friendly businesses, which he calls "The Barefoot Business Exchange." Barefoot Licensees can submit to the Exchange any business which accepts their Barefoot License.

And that's not even the best part! If you do submit a business, and they eventually sign up for an official listing on the Exchange, you get money! He calls it the "Barefoot Bounty" program.

So, he really is trying to cover all the bases - using money to entice people to accept barefootedness (by convincing businesses that they won't be sued by barefooters, but they will lose business if they don't accept them), and using money to entice people to go barefoot in the first place and to promote the cause (by showing their Barefoot License to businesses and encouraging them to promote themselves as barefoot-friendly).

I think this might really be the answer, if enough people get on board with it. He has told me that he wants to develop the list organically, which is why it only has one entry right now. (I had suggested the idea of populating the list with several "Silver-Level" entries that had never actually accepted the Barefoot License.)

Anyway, if you want to check out the program, which I absolutely think you should, here are the links:

    The Barefoot License

    Barefoot Bounty
    http://www.realbarefootgirls.com/barefoot-bounty.html

    Barefoot Business Exchange
    http://www.realbarefootgirls.com/barefoot-business.html

I already have my license, and I've seen the very professional store window signs he had made up. They look great! I can't wait to see them in store windows everywhere!

If we all work together, we really can change the world. So, if you have any other ideas about how to make this idea successful, go ahead and speak up!

quite honestly, this site is creepy, and bit stalkerish.
he may want to advertise on a seperate site if he wants more to join

I tend to agree. The fact the site is "realbarefootgirls" makes it come off as more of a fetish site than a barefoot advocacy site. As for the license, it only has value if it is recognized by businesses and governments. I could print out my own impressive looking certificate on my computer and laminate it. It would be no more or no less recognized than a card for which I paid $125. And the fee, $125?? I pay a fraction of that to renew my driver's license every 10 years, and it's a recognized legal document. Why pay $125 for something that's only value is as a novelty item in a scrap book?

It doesn't have to be recognized by governments (at least, not ours) because going barefoot is already legal. There are no legal barriers to it, and no requirements to meet to do it.

As far as the price, the only thing I can say is that, unlike a driver's license, it is a one-time fee. You sign up, get licensed, and you're good forever.

Also, he had originally planned on doing a much lower price, but changed his mind when I referred him to this post by Sax_Machine on the "Too Scared?" thread on this board.

As far as marketing is concerned, I think he does plan to market it through different avenues, but I myself think that his marketing model is just fine.

Think about it. There are really only two things that influence Americans with any level of consistency: sex and money.

If he markets it through "barefoot advocacy" sites, he is conforming to the belief that people already have about going barefoot, which is that it's something only hippies, freaks, weirdos or homeless people do. By marketing it through his Real Barefoot Girls site, he is bringing sex into the equation, which is something the "Society for Barefoot Living" for some reason jealously resents.

It's more scandalous that way. It's something the media can get ahold of. He subscribes to the theory "no publicity is bad publicity." If he gets branded as a pervert, so what? If it gets more people to go barefoot, what's the problem?

The goal is to give going barefoot an actual brand image. It needs to be a product that can be sold and advertised like so much designer shoes. Try buying a TV spot to promote the idea of going barefoot. I doubt very many networks would run it. In fact, I've seen articles about TV networks refusing to air ads that are potentially controversial lifestyle promotions. But tell them you're promoting a product, a service or a web site, and watch as they stick out their greedy palms for your cash.

Besides, if you're already inclined to go around encouraging businesses to welcome barefoot patrons, wouldn't you like to get paid to do it?

    Terribly flawed logic.

Associating barefooting with deviant sex is certain to alienate the mainstream from our lifestyle. Exacerbating this by promoting the sales of questionable "licenses" is not only a recipe for a lawsuit, but also has the potential to brand barefooters as charlatans and con-men.

I like the idea of a business exchange, but it should be built as a respectable undertaking such as the better business bureau, rather than under the auspices of pseudo-fetishism coupled with questionable business practices.

BTW, I'm no fan of the SBL (see my previous posts on this issue), but their stand against fetishism is on the right track if we ever want to break in to the mainstream.

The site is a cover for selling some self-help book for loser males, designed to help them hook up with women.

It's fucking disgusting if you ask me, pardon my French.

All you need to know about the guy running it:

    http://www.realbarefootgirls.com/about-me.html

Apparently, despite all of his BS, this bald-headed pygmy still can't meet a woman who isn't a cardboard cutout.

I feel like I need to take a shower after even looking at it.

Don't insult someone for their appearance. That being said, what is lacking is respect. To "hook up" with a woman just to use her is immoral, rude, insulting and just wrong. If you both just want to get off that's OK as long as both agree.:p

Some people are just shy or have difficulty in relating to others. If someone can put words of encouragement helping others to relate, that is great. I am a fan of feminism, and believe women are not toys or sex objects. They are to be respected and treated well.

My image of an ideal date with you, Alexandra, would be taking you to a nice dinner, then shoe shopping and inviting you to my crib for a drink and asking you to show me how well you vacuum my floors:(

You know, I've got no clue what you just said here.

I actually feel a little dumber for having read your post (twice) and trying to make heads or tails of it. Apart from the fact that you apparently believe that taking a barefoot girl shoe-shopping is a good date plan, and think that a vacuum cleaner attachment shoved up your ass would be a good conclusion for the aforementioned date...

...Yeah, I think that about sums it up. Oh, and if someone looks like a creepy bald-headed leafy-eared dwarf posing with a cardboard cutout, I'm not going to say he's Brad Pitt's long-lost twin. I've got standards; do you?

sorry for the rude talk but that site is talking about 'barefoot women' like if they were truffles, looks like a long range hunting guide to prairie dogs, to name some elusive critters. it is just the outcomes of a fetish turning into an obsession, kind of weird. though i can't say i am not attracted by girls barefooting around i am not planning to go insane after them .

For what it's worth, you don't sound dumber, just a whole lot bitchier.

Seriously, a little less snobbery, okay? Some people happen not to be attractive. They have sex drives just like you do. As long as they're not paying schoolgirls for their panties, we might as well wish them happy hunting.

Hell, I give the guy props for posting his real picture. A textbook Internet creep would steal an image from a weightlifting magazine.
