I just watched Being Julia a nice little flick about an aging actress in the late 1930s London. Have you ever seen it? Came out in 2004. Part of the story brought home some pleasant memories from my past as Julia (Annette Benning) has an affair with Tom (Shaun Evans), a young American boy not much older than her own son. I heard Shaun in the Features and he actually has a heavy English accent. Great actor on just hiding that in his role and sounding so American. So, watching the two together I almost saw myself and "Mrs. Robinson" who also had a son a little younger than me. Tom had a problem accepting money from Julia when they went on dates - reminded me of Mrs. R. who was more financially established, slipping me money under the table to pay for our meals out. I have fond memories of that time and I think every young guy should have an affair with an older lover, especially you het boys because 40-something women and 20-something boys can really have fun together. I know the ladies really appreciate the youthful vigor and are turned on by the youthful naiveté.
I'll have to check this out. I like Annette Benning, and I have my own fond memories of my own Mrs. Robinson. I can't even remember her actual name. She was forty and I was nineteen and did she ever rock my world.
