best worst movie ever... ed wood brings us zombies and aliens and terrible, terrible special effects!
I bought it on DVD.Not as inept as often claimed but for once I would have to agree with Leslie Halliwell who wrote, "It is certainly one of the most boring".
About a week ago the Mystery Science Theater guys did a live broadcast of Plan 9 with riffing (humorous commentary). It was played in movie theaters through a digital video connection. I laughed so hard I was crying, it was great to be in a theater full of fellow cult/B movie fans..
Right on ! Far more entertaining than the average blockbuster. I'm of the opinion that any multi-screen cinema should by law have to give one screen over to a constant programme of stuff like this. It's about the one thing that'd get me back into cinemas. Now, excuse me while I go and find my DVD of Plan 9...
i had not seen the movie since i was a little kid, and that was back in the early 1960's on tee vee. i re-saw plan 9 a couple of months back... WHAT A TURD OF A MOVIE! when i was asked to give it my rating, i gave it one point (that's the worst score possible too!) as for those of you whiners, whom complain that "they don't make good movies anymore!" last night i watched 'requiem for a dream.' ONE HELL OF A GREAT MOVIE... I'M GIVING IT FIVE STARS! there is still one hell of A LOT of shit as bad as plan 9 still being made today too!
Yeah, but those ratings are only valid for one person -you. I've never seen Requiem For A Dream...you may be right, it may be great...but I might find it totally boring. I love Plan 9. Yes, I know its rubbish, but its entertaining rubbish, and I dont take it seriously. Its not High Art...but it is Warped Art of a kind.
It has been called art, then again an artist designed the Mcdonalds logo and I would rather that stay in the world over plan 9
I actually prefer Glen or Glenda - but Plan 9 is definitely great. It's even better if you've seen Ed Wood =) It's decent with amazing scenes and overrated as all hell. Also, it wasn't made recently enough to dispute the claim that they don't make good movies anymore. Movies that live up to the classics that were made within the past couple years: The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford Good Night, Good Luck There Will Be Blood Wall-E Funny Games (U.S.) Grindhouse Superbad Harold & Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay Honorable mention: The Dark Knight for it's amazing pacing (but I'm too big of a Batman fan to allow such a bad adaptation on the actual list =P) And I know this list will be twice as big once I get around to seeing some of the movies I've not gotten a chance yet (Frost/Nixon, Into the Wild, etc.) Really, I think some of these could be considered among the best films ever made - and I find the current movie scene rather exciting, even if the box office scene can be rather drab.
It's really terrible. It drags on too, feel likes 2 1/2 hrs or more, when I'm sure in reality it's probably about 90 minutes long...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Better than Corpse Grinders 2 though.
