I am planning on attending a Gathering but I'm not sure what to expect... I know what to bring, but on the websites I have ventured to none have described exactly what to expect at one. So I guess my question is, what should I expect if I do attend a Gathering?
Expect something beyond comprehension, beyond what you could expect. Just go there with a smile, a heart full of love, and most the stuff in the turtle guide lol
Ask 100 people and you'll get 100 different answers. Most are valid, even some of the negative ones. I could write a complete dissertation on answering your query. expect to meet some wonderful people. expect to encounter some real assholes. expect to be offered much love, food, herb and extraordinary experiences. expect to get harassed for money and cigs. expect to be be pleasantly surprised at the goodness of folks. expect to be ripped off. expect what you'd normally expect when in the midst of 1000s of diverse strangers. open your heart. watch your back.
Walk around, enjoy nature, talk to your fellow human. Lot's of people smoke (pot). You help people, be it getting there stuff down to there camp, or helping making a bridge from fallen wood. Some people do yoga, some are in drum circles. Honestly theres a lot of variety. Hope that helps
well, gatherings are unstructured so you pretty much do whatever unharmful stuff you want. wander around meeting and greeting folks, go to offered workshops, join in a drum jam, dance, pray, help in a kitchen toting water and firewood, dig shitters, pick up trash, do art work and crafts, meditate and do yoga, go for a hike, if you have official medical or medicinal herbal expertise go work in the CALM, go to A Camp and get drunk, go to the trading circle and trade, join in the Heart Song Circle, join in the Vision Council, join any of the other specialized groups like the Sister's Circles, sit at a friendly camp, get high and talk about mundane and/or profound things and otherwise just experience whatever is there to experience. gatherings are organic free for alls. whatever happens happens, most of which is good, some of which is not so good and there are some rare psy happenstances that occur that are undeniably mystical/miracle-like. for some folks gatherings and being a rainbow person becomes a way of life, for others it's a once a year trip down Nostalgia Lane to Hippyville, for others it's a place to go for free flop and food and inebriation and for others it's just an interesting thing to try once and never go again.
