    'ello there !

So, 30th December 2008 I started making my dreads, I had the idea of washing them not very often, about once a month.
But after a whille i got the idea that it was bad for them to get showered, so i stopped washing them.
I really love the dreads, but im feeling they aint knotting up enough, atleast not in the ends.

So you guys got any tips?
How often should i wash them (i havent washed them since march, i have been bathing in the summer though.) and any tips what to do with my ends/tips?

Im posting some pictures aswell , some abit old and someone who just came out from the bakery.

Two first photos from june 09. Rest is from the bakery, tell me what you think.

You should wash them, the oils from your scalp can impede locking. If you're afraid of not having a residue-free shampoo, just use water. Besides that, the only thing that your dreads need is time.

    Thanks for the reply !
I think i got some shampoo for dreads aswell (from knottyboy?) so maybe i should start washing em every once and then. Maybe one or two times a month, what you think?

    I love your color!

I always suggest washing with Baking soda, and as often as you feel necessary.

id say just use water. I found everything else seemed to leave some sort of residue in my hair.

Id also wouldnt wait months to wash them. My hair starts to get pretty greasy after a week.

Ok, thanks. Hm i dont know, my hair is "clean" and I havent washed them since march. They dont smell or anything.

    Haha, yeh, those crazy vikings!

I dont know about 5 people, I mean last weekend I was at a party, i sat down in the couch, after a while we where three people in the couch. Suddenly one in a chair rises "Look! its the dread couch". Because we all had dreads, 3 out of 15 or something.
But I agree to few people have dreads in Norway, but I see someone with dreads in Stavanger every now and then :)

My hair looks like yours. We must have a similar hair type. I recently did some twist andd rip on the bottoms to start helpping them knot up a bit more. I wash mine every two weeks or so with baking soda and water.

    Good luck and welcome. =)

Yeh, maybe we have similar hair types :) I dont think I need to rip and twist mine more, they are very locked at the bottom now. I just want them to start lock'in futher out.

Think im going to wash mine with just water, and see what will happen'.

    Thanks !

    Norske dreadheads ftw :cheers2:

I'd definately recommend washing your hair at least once a month, with or without soap. Considering your scalp produces oils, I recon there must be some buildup of some kind - and I think clean locks mature better. Not saying your locks are dirty though :D
