no - i do believe it as far as boycotting huge companies are concerned.

are you honestly telling me that theres some fat cat sitting round a board room table with his head in his hands thinking "shit - that hippie in the caravan is refusing to go into mcdonalds. i'm gonna have to make some changes soon or we'll be in serious trouble"?

thought not. so that means it doesnt make a diffenence.

i dont see the point in taking action when nothings going to happen.

i was reminded by a post above that i generally try and only buy fairtraded clothes and wont buy anything that has been made using child labour. i'm not boycotting coz i think it will make a difference. i'm boycotting it coz i would feel guilty wearing clothing that has caused children to suffer. plus fairtraded stuff looks nicer than the mass produced stuff.

    peace and love

i think everyone shud hav a bash at boycotting as much as they can. in this familly we dont use nestle, esso and finally mc d's.yea i know its a drop in the ocean but if we gave up because we feel insignificant then no one wud do anything. keep boycotting as much as is feasable for you to do and add to it as time goes on.there are lodes of people doin it,we are not small, we just havnt all met each other yet..:D

I'm weak, I do see the point in boycotting stuff but I succomb to my own greeds and needs far too often. I usually tend to just 'avoid'

Awww, I thought that last sentance on the ad was a little unfair. I hope they don't portray him that way in the programme....

thats right .. millions and millions to spend as i wish .. to allow me to buy everything and everyone to command as i wish .. to gain me friends and lovers, power and respect .. wow I can't wait!

I expect you of all people to get your facts right and not to feel the need to resort to that level. You have your own mind use it.

now get back to the subject

Our water tables are actually incredibly low. Remember the hose pipe ban? It's not as bad as that at the moment, but we're placing an increasing strain on the environment by our wastage of water. If the demand for water goes up, the supply will have to go up too. Creating more resevoirs and requiring more energy. We may not be living in drought conditions, but it increases our ecological footprings quite considerable. I know I'm shit at leaving the tap running, and the lights on, it's because I'm forgetful, but it is a really important issue to remember....

If the water table is low that also means less CLEAN water.

Giles, it's a bit rich (pun!) to get all hissy when fleassy just responded to your provocative comments ("
If you think giggling in the toilets"... ring any bells?). Whenever you post on here now all you ever seem to do is have a dig at someone. Don't be surprised when they bite back.

And on another note, if you think your original reply needed editting beyond all recognition, then maybe you should've thought a little more carefully before posting it. This forum's been stressed enough lately without you adding to it.

I also avoid wearing as many sports shops and highly mass produced clothes as possible, unless i bought them second hand.

My friend has just become a Vegan however he still smokes and i was wondering if Cigarretes are Vegan? Also he still wear's his normal old clothes, he says this is because hes using his clothes to their extent of usage before buying new ones.

Whats peoples oppinions of the vegan/vegetarian debate?

Personally i think any name like Vegan, Vegetarian, and Straight edge or even Carnivor imediatly gives people a reason to mark you down on things. I think its a personal choice over what you do or dont eat.... however if a vegetarian still ate say fish and still classed themselfs as vegetarian they would imediatly be up for riddecule :(

    ...just an observation.

I wouldn't class someone who ate fish a vegetarian, even if they don't eat other meats. I respect people's decision not to eat meat, and I do eat meat myself, but fish are people too! Call a spade a spade, if people eat fish I wouldn't really see them as a vegetarian, just selective in the meat they eat. White fish, like cod and haddock, are very endangered, scarily so, and mass fishing practices and high demand are to blame....
