So on friday night i decided rather than go out and drink, that i was going to do someting good for myself and spend the night alone. So i started the night off by rolling a nice fatty and going on a smoke tour out in the country bordering my painfully average college town. So i rolled around and smoked the joint i had rolled and shortly after returned home. I was super baked and decided to meditate. I wont get into the rest of the details as i meditated on multiple things over the course of about an hour, but something crazy happened to me that totally changed my perspective on the possibility of the body. I was in the middle of focusing on the energy in my chest and then suddenly came to the relazation that i bury almost all of my emotions deep within ( at this point i could feel the energy in my chest building up), as soon as i came to this relazation the built up energy ( or whatever it was ) shot like a rocket from my chest up my spine and into my skull, this actually caused my head and neck to physically shake almost convulse for about ten to fifteen seconds. Needless to say after this happeend i was to astonished and overwhelmed that i could no longer continue the meditation. Has anybody else experienced this? and i know i need to search for the meaning myself but does anyone have any ideas what this could be or what this could mean?
I think emotions are none other than body movement. When you don't go along with the movement, you repress it and your body builds up tension. All that tension is released one way or another, but if you're used to using substances to manage tension (rather than attending to your body), then an experience like the one you described seems normal if you don't meditate or exercise regularly.
Meditation can activate chakras and that would be my first guess as to what happened to you but it could be something else. Check out Kundalini meditation and chakra meditation. It's not uncommon to get buzzing or other sensations while meditating.
Watch out for kundalini syndrome... From wiki...(bold added) According to Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda awakening of kundalini (Kundalini yoga) shows itself as "awakening of inner knowledge". Like every form of energy one must also learn to understand spiritual energy. In order to be able to integrate this spiritual energy, careful purification and strengthening of the body and nervous system are required beforehand. By trying to force results considerable psychic disturbances and at times even permanent mental damage can occur. A spiritual master who walked this path before is required to guide the aspirant. Often, it will be found that negative experiences occur only when acting without appropriate guidance or ignoring advice. Researchers affiliated with the fields of transpersonal psychology and near-death studies have suggested some common criteria that describe Kundalini problems, of which the most prominent feature is a feeling of energy or heat rushing up the spine. Summary of known problems: Death, pseudo death, psychosis, pseudo psychosis, confusion, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, sadness, suicidal thoughts, urges to self-mutilate, homicidal urges, arrhythmia (irregular heart beat), exacerbation of prior or current mental illness, insomnia, inability to hold a job, inability to talk, inability to drive, sexual pains, temporary blindness, and headaches A few theorists within the transpersonal field, such as Greyson, refers to this symptomatology as the "Physio-Kundalini syndrome", while other Western academics use the description Kundalini-experience/awakening . Transpersonal literature indicates that the overview of symptoms is not meant to be used as a tool for amateur-diagnostics. According to writers in the field, the interpretation of symptoms is not straightforward. Symptoms associated with Kundalini-activity may not always represent such activity, but instead be an indication of other medical conditions, in need of attention. Kason emphasizes that any unusual or marked physical symptom needs to be investigated by a qualified medical professional.. Transpersonal psychology further notes that the process is not always sudden and dramatic, it can also start slowly and increase gradually in activity over time . If the accompanying symptoms unfold in an intense manner that destabilizes the person, the process is usually interpreted as a "spiritual emergency" . ZW
Don't consider yourself a meditator if you're on the good herb - that's it! Whatever you experienced, you were stoned at the time. Duh. You think anyone on earth will take you seriously? Meditators learn to meditate straight, and then someday, maybe they also smoke herb and they can maybe meditate due to previous good habits. What you did, it's like you got high, picked up some weights and then noticed a muscle.
See i have always been told MJ is a useful tool for meditation so i have always thought it was a good thing to smoke before meditation, i guess i was wrong. Either way this was a crazy experience.
i also have also read up a lil on the kundalini syndrom and i do have alot of the symptoms, does anyone know where i can find help with this, preferably a person i can talk to because i have really been feelin pretty crazy lately and it is starting to get to me. Thanks all for your time
