I need to send a file to another computer to print it out. but i made the file in microsoft word prossor and the other computer doesnt reconize the file type. the printer computer has an older word prosseor on it. is there anyway to change the format to something else that widely accessible for a lack of words?

If you have access to the original computer at this point, resave it as a .rtf (rich text file).
This should be accessible by almost any word processor.

If this is a difference between Word for Vista and Word for before that, you've been saving it as a .docx (Vista file). You can resave as .doc and lose very little formatting (.rtf loses more).

If you're trying to take it into wordperfect or works, .rtf might be your only option. That will suck with pics and stuff.
    Copy and past kinda sucks.

What are the word processors for the computer of origin and the destination computer?

If you are working in Word, you might also try saving it as .htm or .html (which should preserve your pics and unique formatting).
With luck, you could then open it with a web browser and not a word processor, if all you are trying to do is print.

Copy n paste all your work into microsoft notepad, save it as a dot txt file, then bring it up on your other computer's processor, and it should work. best of luck!

    Way to read the post.

To the OP: save it as a PDF if you can. You can download a free add-on for MS Office that will allow you to do this.

There is a free version of word processing software compatible with all versions of ms word which you can download to the computer where you have transferred your document for printing.

The website is called openoffice.org and if you install their package onto the transfer computer, it should allow you to get a decent print-out of your document as it exists on your original system.

OpenOffice is the probably the best way to go, I don't use MSWord anymore for this reason
